It was born in 1969 in San Jose California (it’s an R code) these cars are coveted because they shipped with Big Block Engines and all the suspension and drive-train to match. It was already a 320 HP Engine out of the show-room floor. The previous owner told me that he had an old 428 Cobra Jet that he put in it, but I can’t find anything to corroborate that, if we go by the VIN says it came with a 390 from the factory, so either it was a cobra jet 428 (not the boss 429), or the engine is bored out from a 390 and stroked to a 428. It’s an Edelbrock script for the most part, all it needs is a little love. I don’t live in the country so I need to give up on my dream. The body is in great shape, there’s nothing missing, no weird bends, folds, and no rust holes anywhere. I did upgrade the wheels to 20” wheels with tires to match, they have less than a few hundred miles on them, I moved to South Korea for work shortly after I started this project, and now I’m in Mexico, so I don’t want it to fall apart sitting after all the work we’ve done so far. The only detail currently affecting it is a passenger-side window elevator, it slipped off and I haven’t had time to re-align it. It’s on, but the window is a little off. Functional but it doesn’t seal against the quarter window. As you can tell the upholstery is also in great shape, white with the great wood-grain accents. The dash will have to be replaced tho. Other changes, I installed a Vintage Air A/C system, I added a 24” Aluminum radiator, and it’s working well, however, I haven’t tuned the thermostat for the electric fans to Utah, so right now I just have them run whenever the motor is on. It has a manual dial to set the on/off threshold, but as I mentioned, I’m just not in town long enough to do any good, and when I do, I’m usually under the hood of my son’s 68 notchback. I aligned the hood, it was chipping a little from the hood “shaking”, but it is a true shaker, the hood was not an add on. It also comes with factory disc brakes, and 4-speed manual (we did swap the linkage to a Hurst one). It still has one of those cool clocks on the dash. All in all, this is only inches away from show ready … which was my original goal after I finished it’s little brother: We are not looking for a fast sale, we are looking for the right buyer. It doesn’t help to get all the naysayers telling me this or that about the car, the price, or the project. It’s a collector car, but I suppose a nice hot rod could be envisioned. I’m selling a very clean 2013 Honda Accord EX-L which is the highest trim model and comes with all the options. Push to start. Multi-camera system. Has nice leather seats that are also heated.
