Used Car For Sale By Owner
1968 Dodge Charger R/T. Car was sold new by a San Francisco Dodge dealer and still has the California black plates that were last registered to it. When I bought the car in California the seller told me he was the second owner but can't verify. The car was apparently always in California until I brought it to Utah. The car starts, runs and can be driven.
The second owner had the Charger repainted original red about 20 years ago, it was at best a driver quality paint job. The floor pans are reportedly original. The trunk pan was replaced but the body man did not do it right so it will have to be fixed. The car has minor rear fender damage, apparently backed into a tree years ago.
The vinyl top was replaced but not a perfect job. The bucket seats were recovered to a similar but not the correct original pattern. The rest of the interior is mostly original. Has original console, shifter, seat belts, etc.
The second owner had the engine professionally rebuilt and has about 1000 miles since rebuild. Care was taken to keep the original block and all original parts possible with car. The motor appears to be all original matching numbers. Core support also is matching numbers. Transmission is believed to be the 727 original. The AC system was not reassembled but it looks like the parts are pretty much all with the car. There is a trunk load of parts that come with the car that can be used in a restoration. The car has PS, PB and Sure Grip rear end. Has the original Magnum 500 wheels. Tic-toc Tach (not working).
The Charger has the fender tag in place and the broadcast sheet showing all original equipment and options. It's difficult to read the broadcast sheet in the pic but the original is mostly readable. I can provide a listing of the codes and equipment if requested.
The value in the car is that it is an original, rare and highly collectible 1968 Charger R/T with the original matching numbers 440 Magnum engine. The Charger is pretty much original and complete which will facilitate a high level restoration.
True mileage unknown.

    Vin Info Has Changed

    What’s this mean?

KSL Cars uses VIN info to automatically pull details about vehicles listed on the site. The seller edited some info when they created this listing – the changes they made are marked with this symbol.

This doesn’t always mean something is wrong – we just think you should know that changes were made. But it’s probably a good idea to ask the seller about them. As always, if you don’t feel comfortable about it, do not proceed with the purchase.
