1990 BMW 3 Series 325i

Mileage: 37,142

Idaho Falls, ID | Posted September 7, 2020

$12,999

I was forced to move to Idaho Falls due to lack of income/economic shutdown. The car is in Idaho Falls with me.
I'm not interested in any low ball offers. If you don't like my price, please move along. Check Hagerty or BAT for sales values.
I am only selling the car because I have been out of work since February due to COVID-19. I have lowered the price over $3k and will not come down any lower. I AM NOT INTERESTED IN TRADES.
First - no dealers, unless you have a full price, cash offer. Second - please read the ENTIRE listing before contacting me (the car is an auto trans) Third - serious buyers only, please don't waste my or your time Fourth - To get it out of the way first, here is what the car needs: Intermittent clunk, I replaced the driveshaft and more, so I'm not sure what the cause is. Radio volume knob is wonky, it will be quiet or super loud and is touchy. Ash tray housing was cracked and super glue was used to hold it together, and it was a bit sloppy, that part could be replaced ($30 on eBay). There are two very small nicks in the drivers side door card, purely cosmetic.
This is an amazing car in Alpinweiss II. Low mileage classic. It is so hard to find original low mileage E30s anymore, they have become a fantastic investment for classic car enthusiasts. This is my 4th E30 and second restoration, so I am experienced with these cars. Most of the work done was by me, but a few things were done elsewhere.
If you've ever wanted an original, low mileage BMW E30, now is your chance. History: This car had one owner before me (two if you count the person who inherited it, had the title in his name for a couple days before I bought it). The original owner only put 365 miles on it from 1990 to 2012. At that point, her health had deteriorated and she could not drive. It has always been a garage queen, never stored outside. When she stopped driving it in 2012, it sat untouched in the garage until I bought it in July, 2018. At this point, it was rolled into my garage (it was NOT started) and it sat until March of 2019. I have some original service records; the timing belt was first replaced 1/18/1997 at 25,001 miles. Then again 9/3/2001 at 30,000 miles.
I started working on it in March 2019. I replaced the timing belt/water pump. I also did a full tune-up, spark plugs, plug wires, distributor, dist cap, rotor, thermostat, flushed and replaced coolant, new full synth 10W30 oil and filter, I drained the fuel system completely and flushed it with injector cleaner and 91 octane/ethanol free fuel at first start up. I had the power steering fluid and brake fluids flushed (Burt Bros). I did not touch the transmission fluid, it drives and shifts smoothly, so I left it alone. I replaced the valve cover gasket, did a valve adjustment, replaced rocker plugs, replaced the fuel pump and all drive belts.
The drive shaft was clunking, so I replaced it with a rebuilt shaft out of Texas. I also replaced the guibo and transmission mounts while I was in there. There is still a minor, intermittent clunk, don't know what it is, but the car still drives GREAT. It only clunks from the rear end when slowing down and the car shifts down to 1st gear. It cruises up Parley's at 85 and is smooth. I replaced the front and rear sway bar end links and the sway bar bushings.
The A/C still works great, as does the heater. The radio antenna goes up and down properly. All windows open and close properly, all buttons, locks, etc work as they should. The OBC works perfectly, no LCD problems. The sunroof is electric and opens and closes as it should. Both mirror motors work well. Wiper blades were replaced and function properly. I replaced the battery as well. The tool kit in the trunk is complete, the jack, wheel chock and tow hook are there. I put brand new, Michelin Defender, 80,000 mile tires on the car. The car passed emissions with no problem.
Right before the original owner stopped driving, she backed into a wood beam outside of her garage and she cracked the bumper, and put a ding in the rear drivers side fender. It was a small ding, but I wanted it repaired properly, so I had it repaired and resprayed and it looks fantastic (local shop here in SLC). The car looks amazing for being 30 years old. Thanks to it's life in the garage, it didn't suffer fade or sun damage like most E30s. That being said, there are some small, very minor chips and imperfections here and there from normal use. Because of the garage storage, the dash is immaculate and crack free, as is the interior. The gray carpet looks awesome and it comes with black BMW floor mats.
The car is a 325i with an auto trans. Black vinyl comfort seats. OBC and cassette deck. Cruise control works great. Power steering, ABS, and airbags. All exterior and interior lights work properly. Has 14" bottle cap wheels in great shape, although the center caps have some fade and chipping. I can find no evidence of rust on the car. It was stored in the garage and it really shows. Come check it out and see for yourself.
I'm sure I'm forgetting something. I wish I did not have to sell the car, but as I said, I need the money. I am asking $12,999 and I'm not interested in any trades or low ball offers. I hope there are some E30 enthusiast collectors nearby that will take good care of this beautiful, low mileage original. This would make a great investment, collector car. I posted a lot of pics, check them out thoroughly. Test drives for serious buyers only. I have the title in hand, no lien on the car. I will hold the car for a serious buyer with a Venmo or PayPal deposit. The car is cross-posted locally and nationally.
