1965 Mercury Monterey

Mileage: 40,000

Eden, UT | Posted September 12, 2020

$16,500

This is a 1965 Mercury Monterey marauder fastback. This was Fords upgrade from the Ford line but not quite the Lincoln luxury vehicle. There are a lot of similarities to the Lincoln continental and the Ford galaxy. But it truly has its own identity. The marauder engine line was the best ford had for production at the time and there were only 2 sizes. the 390 and the 427. This one is the 390 Marauder engine.
The odometer says 40k mi. I don't know if it is correct or not. But it has good compression and great get up and go. Under the hood is a new water pump, fuel pump, alternator, and rebuilt original 4 barrel carb. There is also new booster and master cylinder. The engine has a recent tune up. The engine is backed by a strong C6 transmission. The AC has been converted to the latest freon.
I have not rebuilt either the engine or transmission.
The interior has the original seats and door panels. They do show some wear but still look good and they are original. The previous owner converted the door regulators to power windows. But still have the wing cranks. The quarter windows are still crank. The dash is a customized original out of a different car. The original dash was rotten and not usable. The original under dash AC unit works fine and will freeze you out in a short amount of time. It has new carpet and a new headliner. It also has a new windshield.
The paint job is now about 3 yrs old, and although it is in good shape is starting to show some age. The body is the original Olive Mist green. The top was originally a vinyl top. It was long gone prior to my ownership. It is now painted 2 tone white lace, almost ghost like. I have been all over this car. There is no rust in the car anywhere.
The wheels were donated by a 2001 grand marquis. I think they fit the style of the car.
So although this car has been more refurbished than restored. It is an awesome cruiser. And a big block ford 390 4 barrel getting 16 mpg is a little unique. There haven't been many car shows this year. But this car has still seen a lot of sunshine. I take it out a lot! Its fun to drive and gets a lot of attention.
I"m asking $16500.00. I think its worth it. The independent appraiser. told me its probably worth between $15k and $21K.
I'm selling because I'm into a couple other projects and I could use the cash. If your interested let me know. We can take it on a cruse around Pine View reservoir, or over the divide into North Ogden. And then you can make me a reasonable offer.
I may be interested in a partial trade for a car hauler or a Jeep FC150 or FC 170. I may also be interested in a 1 ton Ford or dodge pickup pre 1996. Maybe a bronco?? Partial meaning I could be interested in your trade and your cash. I'm not really interested in a straight across trade on this one. Or paying to see it go down the road with a different driver/owner.
I am OK to do photo shoot with this car. But I need at least two days notice

    Vin Info Has Changed

    What’s this mean?

KSL Cars uses VIN info to automatically pull details about vehicles listed on the site. The seller edited some info when they created this listing – the changes they made are marked with this symbol.

This doesn’t always mean something is wrong – we just think you should know that changes were made. But it’s probably a good idea to ask the seller about them. As always, if you don’t feel comfortable about it, do not proceed with the purchase.
