1984 Volkswagen Vanagon Multi-Van

Mileage: 139,379

Clayton, ID | Posted August 28, 2020

$20,000

For sale by owner:
1984 Volkswagen Vanagon Westfalia. Very very clean, like new tires, rebuilt engine, nice paint, new windshield, interior in near mint condition. Pop-up in very good shape. If you find a cleaner 36-year-old Vanagon you better buy it!
I’ve owned this for almost 10 years, has been garage stored for that time period. Once I got the new engine in it (about 4 years ago) I thought it would be ready to camp a lot in it but never had time until my recent retirement. Now I have found that my wife isn’t thrilled with this “minimalist” camping experience. My loss is your gain. As mentioned above it has a rebuilt engine in it that runs very well with the only problem of vapor locking on hot days. Give it a rest for 30 minutes or so and it will start right back up. I am at my wits end trying to figure out the problem. I have replaced numerous parts; fuel pump, fuel filter, air flow monitor, ignition coil, distributor, etc. etc….Have rerouted fuel lines from over the engine to decrease the likelihood but still will do it on occasion. I am sure a mechanic could figure it out but I don’t really have a VW mechanic anywhere close.
Gas stove works fine, refrigerator worked well at the time I put it away. Water pump and sink work fine. Also comes with a 1978 Honda Express 50cc that runs great and custom carrier on the front. Large German made add-on canvas tent. Original curtains for all the windows. Maintenance manual and tech repair guide.
If I could figure out the vapor lock problem I would ask average retail which NADA lists as $22,500 but my lack of mechanical expertise is your gain. $20,000 OBO and you will be cruising in style! Call 208-604-4166 or 208-705-6313 for more info and to test drive.
Thanks

    Vin Info Has Changed

    What’s this mean?

KSL Cars uses VIN info to automatically pull details about vehicles listed on the site. The seller edited some info when they created this listing – the changes they made are marked with this symbol.

This doesn’t always mean something is wrong – we just think you should know that changes were made. But it’s probably a good idea to ask the seller about them. As always, if you don’t feel comfortable about it, do not proceed with the purchase.
