1997 Mazda MX-5

Mileage: 155,000

Herriman, UT | Posted September 1, 2020

$6,000

You will be hard-pressed to find a better car set up to do daily driving on the weekdays, and track time / canyon carving on the weekends. Chances are if you found this ad, you already know what these little cars are and what you're looking for. Here is the gist of it:
.
Bad: Paint is not great in some spots. Mostly in the trunk and bumper areas. I've included a picture of the trunk paint, the clearcoat got eaten by the sun. You could just get it repainted, I have the proper paint that I will sell with the car if you want.
.
Good: Car has worn a hardtop most of its life, so the body is basically rust-free. Yes, even the rocker panels, which is especially rare for a Miata.
.
Also everything works. AC, pop-up lights, rear defrost (yes, this hardtop is a defrost hardtop). Oh the hardtop is in excellent condition inside and out. Its wrapped in black, but I believe its white underneath. Still has the factory interior rubber finish underneath which is really nice.
.
Car no longer has the soft top installed at all. I did this for a number of reasons. I prefer the space you get by removing it, and the weight savings for the track. Also the soft tops can be finicky to deal with anyways. The good news is the car will also come with a Bikini Top. I think this is the best way you can set up these cars. The bikini top is better than the soft top because you get the airflow of a convertible, but the shade of the soft top, and its super easy to put on and take off, it takes just a few seconds.
.
Car also has a low-mile Torsen LSD, about half the miles that the car has on it. I've changed the oil on it several times and inspected the gears, and it looks legitimately brand new. Never had any shavings of any kind on the plug.
.
This thing is set up ready to race at the track reliably. Here is a list of all the mods done to the car:
.
-Torsen LSD
-Vented fiberglass hood
-Genuine Sparco race seat
-Genuine MOMO steering wheel
-KYB adjustable suspension setup (shocks and springs)
-RacingBeat performance exhaust
-949 Racing QMax coolant reroute
-Galvez Customs Duckbill spoiler
-Poly diff bushings and motor mounts (never missed a shift, not even mid turn :) )
-Hard top / bikini top
-GarageStar fender braces
-HardDog SCCA and NASA approved rollbar
-949 Racing 6UL ultra-lightweight wheels
.
I believe thats most of it. Unfortunately if you wish to test drive the car, I will require that I ride passenger. So know that in advance. Feel free to ask whatever else you want to know about the car. This thing has never let me down, I've had zero issues with it. Shes a runner for sure. Come check it out!

    Vin Info Has Changed

    What’s this mean?

KSL Cars uses VIN info to automatically pull details about vehicles listed on the site. The seller edited some info when they created this listing – the changes they made are marked with this symbol.

This doesn’t always mean something is wrong – we just think you should know that changes were made. But it’s probably a good idea to ask the seller about them. As always, if you don’t feel comfortable about it, do not proceed with the purchase.
