2001 Honda Civic

Mileage: 197,875

Bountiful, UT | Posted September 12, 2020

$1,200

Manual transmission Civic.
Runs and drives great. Shifts well. I haven't had any issues at all apart from what's listed below. The Engine and transmission have a lot of life left in them. It's been a great car for me, I'm just selling it because I got married and we decided we only need 1 car.
It has a great Bluetooth stereo that I put in, it plays cds and has an aux cord too. It doesn't have AC though, which is a drawback.
I'm a full disclosure kind of a guy.
Mechanical issues:
Will need a new CV axle on the right front wheel (see picture.) It's not an immediate issue, but it is one that will need to be fixed. They wear out because that rubber casing gets a hole in it and all the grease flips out while your driving. When that happens they begin to knock, which you'll hear in this car when you hit a bump. I'm told by people in forums on the internet that if you just drive on it you can probably go like 2000 miles before anything happens, but then you'll break your axel.
It's a $30-$130 part depending on if you get a rebuilt one or not. Apparently not that difficult to change either, though I haven't tried. I don't have the tools to work on a car when I'm not at my parents house, otherwise I might fix it myself.
Check engine light is on. It turns off and on occasionally, but it's on more often than it's off. The reason it's on is the catalytic converter is going out. Last year my mechanic reset the light and had me drive around for 45 minutes and passed my emmissions test because it wasn't on after that.
Currently due for an oil change.
Non-mechanical issues:
Cracked windshield. I'm lucky though that it's so low. You'll never notice it unless you look for it.
Driver's side window only rolls down most of the way.
Paint could be in better shape.
The tint on the back window is really hard to see through, I just got used to driving it like that, but you could try and peel it off if you want to.
The right mirror was broken off once when my friend who was parked next to me slid into my car in a snowy parking lot. I fixed it the wrong way (with 3 self tapping screws) because I didn't understand insurance and I didn't realize that a new side mirror costs like 25 dollars. So if you care you could fix that I guess.
Bluebook for these has a huge range because while some are in bad shape, the ones that have been well maintained can go to 275,000 miles or more. The really important stuff is in good shape on this car, but I understand the CV axle and Check Engine Light are issues.

    Vin Info Has Changed

    What’s this mean?

KSL Cars uses VIN info to automatically pull details about vehicles listed on the site. The seller edited some info when they created this listing – the changes they made are marked with this symbol.

This doesn’t always mean something is wrong – we just think you should know that changes were made. But it’s probably a good idea to ask the seller about them. As always, if you don’t feel comfortable about it, do not proceed with the purchase.
