Purchasing this vanagon was one of the best decisions of my life. I have had the time of my life traveling in this vanagon. It needs to go to someone who will love and cherish it the way I have. Also, this is a 2.1L original engine water boxer which means that it is water-cooled, a much more reliable engine, and a bigger engine than any vanagon made between 1980-1986.
I purchased this van two years and a half ago from the 2nd owner. The odometer stopped at 133,338 and I have driven it around 30,000 miles all over the western United States. It drove over 2,000 miles in one week with no problems. it also will go 80MPH on the freeway, most vanagons don't. It has never left me stranded, never broken down, and I have done constant preventative maintenance. Below you will find a list of the maintenance schedule, as well as the upgrades I have made.
Maintenance:
-Oil changes every 3 months or sooner if I go on trips.
-New gear oil, power steering fluid flush, brake fluid flush, new coolant, oil change, distributor cap, ignition wires, spark plugs, and full tune up ($1000) last week.
-new clutch in 2018 ($1500)
Upgrades:
-Go Westy 16" Alloy Wheels with KO2 Tires ($1600) 50% tread left
-Upgraded Syncro Bilstein Shocks all around ($800)
-GoWesty Auxillary Battery Kit and Brand new Auxiliary Battery ($500)
-Brand New Car Battery ($200)
-All fluids changed, replaced coolant pipes with stainless steel kit, tune up, new oil cooler, 4 new wheel bearings ($3000)
-new fuel lines and resealed gas tank ($500)
-Aftermarket radiator fan (so it never overheats)
-Interior lights
-Spare fuel filter ($12)
-Spare fuel pump ($70)
-Rear Door Struts ($40)
-Spare Distributor ($70)
-Spare Fuse Set ($13)
Also comes with:
-small tool set ($60)
-extra long jumper cables ($50)
-vanagon maintenance and shop manuals ($200)
-tire puncture kit ($50)
-RV power hookup cord ($75)
-spare serpentine belts ($50)
-Other extras and work done that I can't remember right now
Things to be aware of:
Heaters don’t currently work, forced heat works very well but the blower motors need to be replaced. AC unit works and blows air but Ac compressor needs to be replaced for you to have cold air blowing. I have also had all rust spots treated and lightly repainted.
I've spent over $10,000 on this van in the last two years just so it will run great for you! I also have all work receipts going back to first owner.
Call or text me if you have any more questions.
