This is a 75’ 2002 in factory Amazon Green with tan interior. It is a factory 4-speed non-sunroof coupe. I am a car enthusiast that had always wanted a 2002 or a Datsun 510 and have spent the last year pre-occupying my downtime with this 2002.
This is a patina build meaning it does have rust on some of the panels. The shock towers are good and the floor boards are okay. It is not a show car by all means at this point in it’s life it has been built to be a guilt-free driving 2002 with it’s flaws and imperfections.
As a 40 year old, driving it is pure analog therapy and a reminder of simpler times as to why people enjoy classics. You might have spotted this car along the cottonwood canyons or along Wasatch Drive. A pure drivers car that makes you work for the momentum yet just as rewarding to drive as any race, sport, or exotic vehicles I have owned in the past. This car will always be a conversation piece among other car enthusiasts because of it’s overall obscure nature. Most people don’t really know what to make of it when they see it flying down the road. You can’t help but to drive it as intended.
I had refreshed the motor with the majority of the parts purchased through Ireland Engineering. Below is a task list I had performed within the last year:
- Removed and disassembled engine
- Block deck and hone
- Crankshaft grounded, welded, repolished
- Connecting rods reconditioned
- Rods paired with Mahle Piano Top Pistons
- Ireland Engineering piston rings 89mm
- Ireland Engineering M10 lower gasket set
- Ireland Engineering Race-Coated Rod Bearings 0.25”
- Ireland Engineering Race-Coated Main Bearings 0.20”
- Ireland Engineering Oil Pump
- Ireland Engineering Timing Belt Gasket Set
- Ireland Engineering Timing Cover Gasket Set
- Ireland Engineering Upper Gasket Set - Late 2 Barrel
- Ireland Engineering Head Bolt Set
- Ireland Engineering Water Pump
- Ireland Engineering Tii Mechanical Advance Distributor
- Ireland Engineering 8mm Performance Spark Plug Wire Set
- Ireland Engineering Stainless Steel Clutch Line
- Ireland Engineering Urethane Transmission Mount
- Ireland Engineering Radiator and electronic fan
- Ireland Engineering Silicone Coolant Hoses

- New RedLine Weber 38/38 carburetor with new Ireland Engineering throttle linkage
- New fuel pump and fuel filter
- New blue built-in resistor ignition coil

- New Red Line GL4 trans fluid
- New Red Line Oil
- New vintage blue tooth stereo with existing Boston Acoustics speaker
- Sachs clutch
- New KYB Excel G struts front and rear
- New Brembo front brake rotors
- New water temperature gauge with fan switch override
- New Holley low-pressure fuel pressure regulator
- Oil changed every 3 months despite mileage using fully synthetic oil with mobile one filter
NOTES:
- Needs fan blower motor - I never drive the car in the rain or snow. However, you can feel the heat through the vents while driving
- Speedometer does not work - 2002 owners like to opt to an external GPS reader as the cables are prone to breaking - I have downloaded a GPS speedometer on my phone for reference
- Tires are in excellent shape
- Still have original front and rear bumpers but removed to save 60 lbs
- Has the factory exhaust manifold currently installed but will come with the Ippei long-tube header
The seats are 45 years old with deflated padding.
Reason for selling: Just acquired a Porsche 928 that I could not pass up. New project and lack of garage space has forced a reluctant sale. The 2002 has become a collector’s vehicle and has continued to appreciate in value. Clean title in hand.
