1999 Volkswagen EuroVan

Mileage: 153,389

Chubbuck, ID | Posted April 26, 2021

$25,000

Up for consideration is our 1999 Volkswagen Eurovan Winnebago edition. The VM vans are what a lot of people use to work out of while they drive around the US. Check out youtube and do a search for "eurovan vanlife". This one along with others highlight living in a van. While living in it is always possible it would make a great vacation camping van. Thats what drew us to it. Being able to go somewhere remote and not have to worry about leaving to find a motel to stay in. It really changes up a vacation. With this you can pop the top and 4 can sleep comfortably and fits in a standard garage. It’s a pretty self-sufficient unit. What we really like about it, is the size. It’s not a huge camper, it will fit in any parking spot. You’re not fighting to maneuver it in parking lots or twisting roads.
Also with COVID and if your nervous about staying in hotels, this would be great for a family vacation. There are a lot of options to make it your own with customizations as well.
We bought it a couple of years ago with the intention of using it for vacations but due to family health issues, it is no longer really an option for us. Rather than let it sit we will let it go so someone else can enjoy using it and making it their own through customizing it. Its pretty much stock throughout with a strong body and engine. Its 22 years old so there is some dating on the interior. The important stuff works but the rest can be updated with fabric or paint.
I have all the manuals, documentation for the van as well as the few things I have had done. I also have a current Carfax I can email you. For 21 years old, the van looks and performs great but there a few things that do not work but can be fixed.
Here are a few things to note.
Engine and transmission – V6 and works great. Starts right up.
Body – overall in great shape but its 22 years old. Few dings in paint from rock chips up front.
Electrical – It comes with a power cord to plug in to charge the deep cycle battery. I cant say the age of the battery.
Tires – new.
AC and Heater – Works great.
Stereo – complete Alpine system with woofer.
Pop top --- Works great. Replaced struts to ensure it remains locked up. No issues. Zippers work fine.
Refrigerator – Works when the van is plugged into AC. We have not tested it with propane.
Water tank – pump works fine and water comes out the sink and the hand held shower at the back.
Propane system – We had it test at Camping World and they said everything was fine with the propane system but the gauge does not work (amount of propane in the tank) and they recommended I get the propane tank certified from Air Gas which I had not gotten done before putting it away for the winter. The burners work and they (Camping World) said the propane heater works. I will say the Carbon Monoxide detector in the van (original 22 years old) no longer functions properly.
Power Windows – Driver side has controls for both windows. It does NOT roll the driver side down or up. It DOES roll down the passenger side but NOT up. I researched this and it seems eurovans have an issue in the door opening, where the wires come through the rubber boot. Apparently it’s pretty common for the wires to break due to excessive wear (opening and closing the door) and lack of padding. Because it rolls down the passenger but not up, I believe it’s the wiring in the door. I did not get around to checking this but there are videos online that go over this. Passenger controls for window goes both up and down.
Interior – I would say it’s in good condition. All the interior lights work, not tears or major stains.
Now we paid $25000 and that’s what we want to get out of it. My price is firm. There are other out there with more miles for way more money. For those that are just starting to look at camper vans. This is 21-year-old van. Most banks will not finance something of this age. Please talk to your bank and or make sure you have the funds before you come look at it so as not waste yours or my time. For payment I will accept cash or cashier’s check. If cashier’s check, we will all go to my bank which is a block away (Idaho Central Credit Union) and verify the check and then I will sign over the van. So no check payments on the weekend.
I will NOT accept any electronic payment, regardless of where you live. Feel free to email me any questions, more pictures, carax or setup a time to come look. I live in Chubbuck in South Eastern Idaho.

    Vin Info Has Changed

    What’s this mean?

KSL Cars uses VIN info to automatically pull details about vehicles listed on the site. The seller edited some info when they created this listing – the changes they made are marked with this symbol.

This doesn’t always mean something is wrong – we just think you should know that changes were made. But it’s probably a good idea to ask the seller about them. As always, if you don’t feel comfortable about it, do not proceed with the purchase.
