1982 Volkswagen Vanagon

Mileage: 100,000

St. George, UT | Posted April 26, 2021

$38,000

This van started life as a 1982 VW Vanagon Diesel Adventure Wagon. Adventure Wagons were made in Fort Bragg, California, and this one spent it’s first 25 years in California and the rest in S. Utah. In the mid 2000’s, it was converted to a 2.5 L Subaru engine and to a full factory VW four-wheel-drive Syncro by Small-Car Performance of Tacoma, Washington.
The engine is from a 2001 Subaru Impreza. It’s the perfect engine for a Vanagon as it’s quiet, smooth, powerful—165 hp and 165 lb/ft of torque—and doesn’t overheat.
This van drives better than new. It has 15 inch wheels, modern reinforced tires for off-roading and factory VW power steering. It also has an aftermarket driveshaft decoupler so it’s not in 4wd all the time—very desirable upgrade. Also has a factory rear locking differential.
The camper is made up of beautiful wood cabinets, and the rear seat folds into a large bed with several reading lights. It has a sink, a stove and a fridge. The propane tank and furnace are original, and should be replaced—new LP tanks are available at gowesty.com. The sink/water tank is the weird, yacht style pressure system supplied by Adventure Wagon and doesn’t work well. The refrigerator, however, is a highly efficient, modern 12v compressor style that works extremely well and runs off the coach side of the dual Optima Yellowtop battery system—see pictures.
Please email any questions. Clean Alaska title.

    Vin Info Has Changed

    What’s this mean?

KSL Cars uses VIN info to automatically pull details about vehicles listed on the site. The seller edited some info when they created this listing – the changes they made are marked with this symbol.

This doesn’t always mean something is wrong – we just think you should know that changes were made. But it’s probably a good idea to ask the seller about them. As always, if you don’t feel comfortable about it, do not proceed with the purchase.
