*** 1987 Mercedes-Benz, 300 TDT, Wagon, Turbo Diesel Touring, W124 Project, Rare! ***
The car is a fun project car, something unique that you don’t see every day.
I have a clean Utah title and bill of sale in hand, ready and available.
Engine OM603 Diesel, Inline 6 Cylinder 12 Valve, Mechanical Injection Pump, 143 Horsepower, 267 Ft LBS Torque
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mercedes-Benz_OM603_engine
------------------------------------------------------
*About the Vehicle*
It’s ready to tow; I have taken off the rear driveline.
I have the engine and transmission on an engine lift ready to be set in a vehicle or trailer.
I have the original engine, and transmission, and many extra parts to help complete the project.
You could use the original OM603 or convert this to an OM606 or something else.
I have a lot of time and money into this car, gathering parts, removing the engine and transmission, and bringing it up to Utah from San Fransisco.
I am happy to answer any more questions or talk more about the history of the car.
-----------------------------------------------------
*History on the Vehicle*
Extraordinarily rare and highly sought after 1987 Mercedes-Benz 300 Turbodiesel Wagon.
The 1987 model year of this W124 Wagon was the only year it was offered in diesel form, making it incredibly special.
The W124 Wagon has one of the most reliable/robust Mercedes-Benz engines ever produced, and the W124 wagon chassis is equally impressive.
The 1987 300 TDT wagon was a one-year-only car, combination with the OM603 Diesel Engine. Very few remain in the United States, and this is quite the collectible.
The 1987 300 TDT wagon is going up in value and could be a solid vehicle investment.
This car also has some unique papered ownership history with a known political activist as a previous owner. (Just some fun history on the vehicle).
I purchased the car in San Francisco as Silver Star Auto.
The engine quit working due to a seized bearing (I purchased the vehicle this way).
The Wagon was running and driving until the failure.
----------------------------------------------------
*Additional Considerations*
The Turbo is the KKK turbo, and it does spin freely and looks clean.
I was told the injection pump was Rebuilt.
The transmission was also rebuilt.
The current OM603 Cylinder head is the #14 Head.
I was also that the Head had a valve job done previously.
I have an extra engine (OM 603 from a W126) that could be used to repair the current engine if desired. That turns over freely and could be perhaps started on the stand with ease to negotiate into the sale if that would be something you would be interested in considering.
Or, If you look on KSL, another engine for sale that runs would go right into this vehicle, and you could have a running diesel wagon pretty quickly.
--------------------------------------------------
Some information from the previous owner of the work performed on the Wagon before I obtained it.
The vehicle has had several services completed; this was cut and pasted from an email.

Painted May 2011 with an extra clear coat (it’s fading now)
Valve job: Head gasket, etc.
Rebuilt transmission including torque converter kit
Brake Master cylinder
Both front lower control arm bushings and bolt kit
Steel brake lines
Front and rear brake calipers
Porterfield Brake Pads (racing pads) @ 295,490
Fuel and temperature combination instrument gauge
Fuel gauge sending unit
Hydraulic suspension parts, including pressure regulator and lines
Pre-glow relay
Oil level sensor
Fan and drive belt
Auxiliary fan and sending sensor, manual operation with switch
Engine water pump and expansion tank
Fuel injection pump, rebuilt
Fuel tank, new
Electric seat switches.
---------------------------------------------------
*What it would need as far as I can tell*
The engine / Transmission reinstalled
The engine rebuilt or another running unit installed
A New Vacuum pump, or good used part
A new Camshaft or good used part
Lifter Buckets, or perhaps a good used part as well
For the engine, Injectors, crossover pipe turbo to intake. Junkyards and eBay are good places for parts for this vehicle.
You would also need other odds and ends, nothing I would consider significant to get it going again. The major parts are there.

    Vin Info Has Changed

    What’s this mean?

KSL Cars uses VIN info to automatically pull details about vehicles listed on the site. The seller edited some info when they created this listing – the changes they made are marked with this symbol.

This doesn’t always mean something is wrong – we just think you should know that changes were made. But it’s probably a good idea to ask the seller about them. As always, if you don’t feel comfortable about it, do not proceed with the purchase.
