In a continuing effort to bring a modern look to their lineup of cars, Ford Motor Company used subtle, but effective changes in 1939.&amp;nbsp; A lower, pointed grille with heavy vertical slats gave a wider presence to the car.&amp;nbsp; The headlights were moved farther apart, positioned nearly in front of the wheels.&amp;nbsp; Finally, the side grills and louvers and the hood side panels were replaced altogether giving way to the &amp;ldquo;alligator&amp;rdquo; hood opening.&amp;nbsp; These changes, along with the sweeping aerodynamic design of the coupe, produced a car that is still a motoring favorite 80 years later!

The 1939 Ford Coupe presented at auction is a top of the line custom coupe built to show and to drive! &amp;nbsp;This car has toured the entire western US but not from the back of a trailer. &amp;nbsp;Under current ownership for 27  years having been worked on, upgraded and well maintained during that time.

Mechanical:

The 383 Chevy V-8 was rebuilt and upgraded with Vortek heads and a 2Z3 GM Hot Cam. &amp;nbsp;The motor is nicely dressed with Lots of The car pushed 400HP and 430 ft lbs of touque. &amp;nbsp;Mated to a rebuilt 700R4 Automatic Transmission with overdrive and an 8.5&amp;quot; Ford rear end, the car is an excellent cruiser at highway speeds

Chassis:

The car rides on a Heidts front end with Disc brakes in the front and drum brakes in the rear. &amp;nbsp;The 8.5&amp;quot; Ford Rear end is equipped with Big Bearings and 3:50 gears. &amp;nbsp;The car sits on American Racing Chrome 5-spoke Wheels and new Tires.

Body:

The car is comprised of steel body, hood and trunk and fiberglass front fenders and running boards. &amp;nbsp;The car was built and painted in 2002, is well maintained and continues to show well. &amp;nbsp;Many modifications have been done over the 27 year ownership and this Ford is a great car to show. &amp;nbsp;The striking purple hue and custom flames provide that vintage hot rod presence. &amp;nbsp;The car shows wear including &amp;ldquo;chips and bumps&amp;rdquo; consistent with the car being enjoyed as a driver. &amp;nbsp;The custom fiberglass trailer, in matching purple and custom flame finish, is a fine addition to the overall look of the car. &amp;nbsp;

Interior:

A complete new custom interior was installed in 2021 at a cost of $14,000! &amp;nbsp;Leather bucket seats provide driving comfort and the car is equipped with vintage heat and air conditioning. &amp;nbsp;The beautiful interior boasts power windows, VDO Gauges, an old school look banjo steering wheel and luxury carpet. &amp;nbsp;The trunk is completed to match the interior in color and quality. &amp;nbsp;
