Pack up your troubles and put on your rose-colored glasses — it’s time to get carried away in your dream of owning a car more expensive than your parents’ first home. Sure, maybe you can’t afford a Lamborghini today, but you can more vividly imagine what it would be like after seeing one up close at the 2024 car show Exotics at City Hall. The free annual event is slated for Saturday, April 6 from 4-8 p.m.

Formerly called Exotics at The Gateway, the 2024 show presented by Need 2 Drive is moving to the heart of downtown Salt Lake City. Organizer Ismael Utrilla is curating a selection of more than 130 supercars and hypercars for the event. They’ll be stretched out along 200 East, between Library Square and the City and County Building (400 South and 500 South). The road will be blocked off, so you can stroll, imagine and gaze longingly for as much time as you’d like.

Expect a party atmosphere — fitting, as Exotics at City Hall is held on Utrilla’s birthday weekend. There will be a DJ, giveaways and merch available at booths in the Library Square plaza. And, of course, cars. Lots and lots of fast cars.

Even better, admission is free thanks to sponsors including KSL Cars, Flanker Kitchen + Sporting Club, Jags Fuel Stores, Windshield Skin Utah, DC Customs, PME Tuning, All City Event Rentals and Tint Citi. You don’t even have to bring a present.

“It feels great just providing smiles to thousands of people,” Utrilla said. But, you can give something back. Utrilla hopes to raise funds for Utah Foster Care during the event. There will be a QR code posted around the venue that you can scan to donate.

Don’t think you’re a car enthusiast? Utrilla said the show just may ignite a new passion. “Even if you’re not into cars, you will be. I’ve had people tell me ‘I came because someone told me to come and now I love cars more than ever because of your show.’”

He adds, it’s also a good way to inspire people to do better in life — so they can one day afford one of these cars. Want your kid to go to medical school? Here’s some motivation. “That is the bright payday,” he said, “to see a lot of people say ‘your show changed my life,’ or ‘this made my kid study hard.’ It’s everything to me.”

While the guest list is still being finalized, Utrilla said you can expect a showing from Utah’s own hypercar collector Supercar_Ron. That may include a Bugatti and a Pagani, a duo worth $6 million alone. Overall, Utrilla said the show could feature cars totaling upwards of $50 to $100 million.

Just enjoy the show

Gather up your fellow dreamers, be it family or friends, and head to Exotics at City Hall. Because even if owning an exotic car seems a little beyond your reality, it certainly doesn’t hurt to imagine.
