2007 Expedition EL (suburban length w more luggage room) More room in all categories...make the comparisons. Make me an offer. I might accept it and I might not. Either way, nothing to lose only the remote possibility of gaining.
Cloth Interior
Okay here is the deal, I am toying with selling our family car. I have to put some money into it or I can part way. If I am investing more, it will be worth keeping despite the miles. Here are the reasons why. I am a "wrench" and have stayed on top of most things except for the few items I have side lined thinking un repaired it might be a better value to the buyer looking to buy a large SUV in a lesser state.
Pros - new tires, engine rebuilt about 30,000 miles ago. I had it rebuilt even though it never broke down. There were other issues with oil delivery I was worried about that rather than wonder I felt it was best to pull it and get it right! High volume oil pump installed (this is an issue from factory) the Melling is a far superior replacement that resolves many factory issues. $500 in floor mats, negotiable here. I could sell on Ebay easy. Wood Dash Kit. Rebuilt Rear Differential. Tinted front windows. Ford Raptor wheels (wider stance). Consistent details to keep clean. New brakes. If I recall right, back (ebrake and rear brakes replaced) and front) replaced in last 15 months. Oil has been changed and meticulously maintained at full. New starter not long ago. Has a great Stereo. Transmission tows and appears to run with exactness. We pull a boat with this car from time to time and it tows really well. Had Paintless dent guy pull almost all (if not all) of the dents out of the sides. New Factory AC compressor last month. Chrome Grill inserts, Durable leather wrapped Steering Wheel cover. 2 aftermarket video head rests. One works the other not working but might be easily fixed. Have factory head rests.
Cons - Ford made some mistakes in their manufacturing paint process. The aluminum hood and tail gate were not paint prepped at factory well and because of this, metal dust left on aluminum and painted creates electrolysis the in time corrodes aluminum under the paint...hence the tail gate and hood paint concerns. I have learned that if you sand it and touch up the spreading stops. Ford says brake controller has to be replaced to turn off brake, abs and traction control light off. Also of note, brakes are not an issue at all just no ABS or Traction control in current state. Not a big deal to me because I can roll old school. Dealer would need to make this change as it required flashing with their computer. front differential is "weeping" oil. Removing diff cover and re silicone would resolve. Lastly, my daughter backed into someone and I have not repaired the tail gate or bumper. the Tail gate was a hit and run. I replaced the handle and it functions perfectly. Windshield is cracked, does not require replacement to register.
If I keep I will perform all of these repairs to have it meet my standards but maybe you would just find a reliable family vehicle for cheap. For what it is worth, we spend a lot of time on the road trying to reach family in far off places. Just got back this month from Canada. This car with independent suspension and fold flat seats rides like a dream and was ahead of the Suburban in these areas. It really has been a great car for us. Call if you want to chat...not sure what I am going to do yet.

This car is currently being modified. We had the entire exterior repainted (color change from factory Gray) to actual Porsche color "Arena Red". The interior was tan and is being replaced with the newer interior from a newer car that had more options. Color gray with piping in the seat that matches the Exterior color Arena Red. The car is not currently running but should not take much to start it back up. It was parked in running condition then the battery died and was removed and discarded. Great project car with very little cost left, we have most of the parts. I have the entire interior plus several big containers with parts. Please feel free to come look. New wheels and tires that cost more than $4,000.
