1996 Toyota Tacoma LX Xtracab – 4WD Manual (2.7L)
Selling my 1996 Tacoma Xtracab. This truck features the 2.7L 3RZ-FE engine, a 5-speed manual transmission, and 4-wheel drive. It has nearly 265,000 miles—a high number for some, but these engines are famous for reaching **350k–400k ** when maintained.
It has been a fantastic primary vehicle, but I’ve upgraded to a newer car and no longer need it.
Recent Maintenance & Upgrades (Last 5 Years)
I have invested significantly in keeping this truck mechanically sound. Over the last five years the following items have been replaced:
Fuel/Air System: New MAF sensor, fuel pump, and fuel filter.
Exhaust: Muffler and O2 Sensors
Drivetrain: Clutch and clutch Master/Slave cylinders.
Suspension: Completely refreshed with new rear springs/shocks and new front struts.
Exterior: Recently replaced driver-side door handle.
Electrical: New alternator and battery is about 3 yrs old.
Interior & Comfort
The interior is clean and functional for its age:
Seats: Original bucket seats (some wear) with newer seat covers in great condition.
Controls: Leather steering wheel cover; all knobs and controls work as expected.
Windows: Tinted side/rear windows and a sliding rear window.
Climate: AC and heater both work great—handles Southern Utah heat and Northern Utah winters with ease.
The truck runs perfectly and never exceeds normal operating temperatures. It currently has a P0171 code (system too lean). I had this professionally inspected by a Toyota dealership; they confirmed the air/gas mix is only barely outside of normal range, and it has caused no drivability issues.
Mini OBD-II Scanner (Free): I am including a Bluetooth code scanner so you can monitor the truck’s health yourself and verify the "lean" code status at any time.
If you're interested, I also have a diamond plate tools box that fits the bed.
