PRICED TO SELL: I really believe this is the best valued classic car listed on KLS. I am sure the argument can be made on other cars, but for me its pretty good deal for under 10K. So, if you are looking for an original classic with under 100K miles, this car might be for you. This listing is for a 1977 Pontiac Firebird Esprit equipped with the Sky Bird appearance package, same year as the Smokey and the Bandit car! The Sky Bird was a special appearance package (RPO W60) offered on the Firebird Esprit model for the 1977 and 1978 model years. It’s a pretty rare car with an estimated production of around 4000 made. From my research I also believe this is one of the first Skybird’s produced having a build date of December 12, 1976. The car is powered by a 350ci V8 linked with a three-speed automatic transmission. Finished in light blue over color-coordinated velour upholstery, the car has 15 blue-finished snowflake alloy wheels, power steering and brakes, Sky Bird graphics, power windows, and an aftermarket cassette stereo. This Firebird Skybird was acquired by me around a year ago from a seller in California. It was a father and son project, that I purchased from the Son before he left to college. Right after buying the car, I ended up having health issues and was never able to get it registered. So, I still have the clean California title in the past owner’s name.
The car runs well, and the seller I bought it from thought I would have no issue driving it from California back home to Utah. I had not started the car for about 10 months, and just added a new battery, and it started right up. It idles smoothly, and a quick drive around the block it ran very nicely. I left it idling for about 15 minutes, and the temperature and everything ran normal. In addition to the Car, I have about $1000 worth of new parts to fix things like the doors, interior light & matching floor mats. I also have all the all-new doors seals, truck seals and hood seals. I also got the paperwork, including brochures, sticker tags and other documents that will be included. Overall, it’s a pretty nice car, with around 94,000 Original Miles. It’s pretty much 100% original, except for the new paint added a few years ago. It does need a few things cosmetically but seems to run and look pretty good.
The minor issue I can see is it has a chip in the paint on the front passenger panel. (See Photos) It almost looks like someone was taking off the hood and scratched it at that time. The blue velour upholstery and interior plastics have some sun fading, along with a wire coming through on the front seat. (I have some interior paint to repaint the plastics) It also has some rust on the on the top of the dashboard, near the driver’s side windshield. And some small rust spots near the bottom of the door on the inside portion, and a small one near the driver’s side window. It is also missing some things like missing the dome light cover, the door handle has damage, ect. But all the new parts will be included to fix the interior issues will be included in the sale. And lastly the air conditioning is disconnected, and the drivers side carpet has a hole in it (included is floor mat pad that can be glued over hole plus new Firebird Floor mats). I think that is all of the issues with the car. But even with that wear, its still a very clean original car with low miles. It spent its time in California and Texas, so it has not been driven in snow.
It’s not a total show car yet, but it shows very well. And it is a nice example of the Rare Skybird Firebird. You can drive the car as is as, as you fix the little things that could be improved. Also, the paint was refinished in 2023, before my purchase. The Sky Bird appearance package offers a specified unique blue paint and quarter-panel graphics. The car has a body-color grille, bumper covers, and mirror caps along with a remote-controlled driver-side mirror. The blue-highlighted 15″ snowflake alloy wheels are mounted with a mixed set of Federal, BFGoodrich, and Cooper tires. Power steering is fitted along with power-assisted front disc and rear drum brakes. A Kenwood cassette stereo included along with power windows, a center console, and woodgrain trim. The steering wheel sits on a tilt column and wears an aftermarket cover. Instrumentation consists of a 100-mph speedometer, an analog clock, and a fuel-level gauge. The five-digit odometer shows 94k miles. The optional 350ci V8 was factory-equipped with a four-barrel carburetor. Power is routed to the rear wheels through a three-speed automatic transmission.
I think this will be a great car for the right person. The Skybird is a pretty rare car, and overall this is a decent example. I do not need any help selling the car, and will not sell it to someone online only. Based on the cars I have seen listed at 10K on KSL, I think this one will sell quickly at $8,000. I am also firm on the Price, I will just keep it rather than selling it for less. Please let me know if you have any questions? And thanks for checking out my listing!
