2000 TOYOTA 4RUNNER
Base model 2WD with a 2.7L, 4-cylinder engine (Model: 3RZ-FE).
We are the 2nd owners of this 4Runner and have put 95% of the mileage on it. It was purchased in 2005 from the original owners, but they only put 12K on it and they mostly towed it behind their RV. I’ve absolutely loved this 3rd Gen 2WD and the only reason I’m selling it is because I have a new job with a long commute. It has averaged 18-20 mpg for me, but I needed something with better gas mileage. It has been a very reliable vehicle and well maintained with routine oil and fluid changes. The heat and A/C work well. Power windows and power door locks work. I replaced the stock stereo in 2018 with a new stereo with Bluetooth and a microphone. The dash has a few backlit lights bulbs that need to be replaced. The interior is very clean and it has the original car mats. It was recently detailed and shampooed. Seats and upholstery are all in great condition especially considering the age of the vehicle. There is just one spot on the drivers seat that is worn that is visible in the image of the front interior.
It has a 2” receiver hitch and I only towed an open trailer with it about once per year.
Recent repairs and maintenance:
June 2023: New tires - HANKOOK DYNAPRO AT2 EXTREME 235/75 R15 (I’ve only put 13K miles on them so they are in excellent condition)
Nov 2023: new front brake pads and brake fluid change
Dec 2023: Oxygen Sensor Replaced
May 2025: EGR Solenoid and exhaust pipe replaced, fuel filter and spark plugs replaced.
Oct 2025: Rear shocks replaced
Nov 2025: Oil change with Full Synthetic 5W-30 and air filter replaced.
Dec 2025: Muffler replaced.
Dec 2025: transmission fluid replaced (multiple drain and refills to fully exchange fluid)
I do not anticipate it needing any major repairs or part replacement at this point beyond what I have listed below: The battery is still testing to the proper voltage but may be due for a replacement in a year or two simply based on the age. It still has the original OEM windshield with a few rock chip repairs but no large cracks. Also, it has a timing chain, as opposed to a timing belt, so it does NOT require that replacement maintenance every 100K. The accelerator cable had a crack in the tightening mechanism but was welded and it has worked fine. A rebuilt cable or universal kit replacement might be an option if you’re wanting to replace it, but the OEM cable part is no longer available (Part: 78150-35020;**** Part Name Code:78150B; Part Description: Cable Assy, Accelerator Auto Drive).
