Diesel Toyota Tacoma
This is a unique opportunity to own a very cool truck. This is a 2013 Toyota Tacoma that was modified for underground mine use. It was bought new and then a Cummins B3.3 diesel was installed.
Here are the details of this truck:
Cummins B3.3 turbo diesel: 2023 build date of Sept 14, 2022 (these are $9,000 new)
Diamond Axles custom front and rear using heavy duty Land Cruiser 80 and 100 series parts. These are about $8000 new.
Tacoma R155 5 speed manual transmission using an Advance Adapters adapter
FJ Cruiser manual shift transfer case
Dakota Digital gauges
Heavy duty rear leaf springs
Front coil suspension
80 series power steering box
Custom heavy duty flat bed to haul 6 people and with integrated diesel tank
New wheels and tires; 5 matching
Optima Yellow Top battery
Heavy duty canvas seat cover
I bought this truck in the fall of 2024. It was pulled out of service from the mine in the summer of 2023 and the mine installed a brand new engine in it a few months prior to releasing it. The engine is basically brand new and runs as such.
In my ownership, I have installed/done the following
installed FJ Cruiser transfer case (manual shift instead of electric actuated)
replaced rear main seal; had a slight drip
installed new wheels/tires (5)
replaced glow plugs in Feb 2026
replaced track bar bushingsThis is a very cool truck and it runs 65 mph and gets about 30 miles per gallon. Yes, you read that correctly. Some things to note:
This thing is hammered. It does not have a straight body panel on it. However, the doors and windows work, it has a clear windshield, wipers work, etc. Everything works on it except the AC which was removed. Also, the airbags are removed.
This is a bare bones truck and is very simple. It has a key with a push button start.
It rides incredibly rough; it was built to haul 8 guys deep into a mine. With weight in it, it rides much better. My plan was to pull all the good stuff out of it like the drivetrain, axles, power steering box, Dakota Digital gauges, etc and install it into something else. Or someone could put a different cab on it.VERY IMPORTANT: It is titled and registered as a DIESEL under it's own VIN and as a 2013 Tacoma so there is something to be said for that. Will it drive cross country today....maybe? I have driven it around about 500 miles and it runs great but it has never left the valley that I live in.This would make an awesome ranch truck, build it into a dedicated crawler, overlander, or just use the parts for something else.If you know what you are looking at, there is a LOT of value in this truck.
