1931 Ford Model A Victoria – Beautifully Restored, Rich Alaska History, Clean Idaho Title
Offered here is an exceptional 1931 Ford Model A Victoria — a beautifully restored example of one of Ford’s most elegant body styles. This car not only stands out for its condition and craftsmanship but also for its truly remarkable history.
Historical Provenance
This Model A was brought to Alaska in the late 1940s. During the 1964 Alaska earthquake, it was located at the Kennecott Copper Mine, a historic site deep in the Wrangell Mountains. When the earthquake destroyed the bridge access to the mine, the car was stranded and left there for roughly 30 years.
Decades later, it was recovered and underwent a careful restoration. The current owner acquired the car in 2018 and completed a second, high-quality restoration to bring it back to its former glory.
Condition & Details
Body Style: Victoria (2-door)
Year: 1931
Condition: Excellent, restored
Location: Boise, Idaho (stored in a climate-controlled facility)
Title: Clean Idaho title, in hand
The paint, chrome, and interior all present beautifully, reflecting the attention to detail in both restorations. The car starts, runs, and drives as it should, with the classic feel and character expected from a well-cared-for Model A.
The rear trunk is an aftermarket addition but has been thoughtfully designed and installed — it complements the car’s style and provides extra practicality for touring.
VIN & Title Information
Originally, the VIN on this Model A was stamped on the engine block. Over the past 95 years, the engine was replaced, and when the vehicle was titled after being recovered post-earthquake, a generic VIN was assigned.
In keeping with originality, the current owner worked with the Idaho DMV to have the original VIN reassigned to the vehicle. As a result, the title includes a notation reading:
“Issued on statement of applicant – Exp 06/25/2027”
The title is clean and in hand.
A Unique Piece of Automotive & Alaskan History
This Ford Model A Victoria isn’t just a beautifully restored antique — it’s a time capsule that survived one of Alaska’s most historic natural disasters and lived to tell the tale. Its story, craftsmanship, and preserved originality make it a standout example for any collector or enthusiast.
