1987 Toyota 4Runner (1st Gen). Has a brand new engine in it. All block work was done by redline machine in Lehi and the engine rebuild was done by a customs shop out of Lehi as well. I have receipts to show what was done to the block and for the assembly. Engine was rebuilt and replaced in the last few months, it has less than a few hundred miles since then. Starts right up and runs strong.
Bought this around 2015 and drove it till the infamous plastic timing chain guide put an end to my fun. It sat for close to 10 years before I finally got around to the project. The interior, exterior, and suspension still need some work. Would love to keep it but too many other projects and not having enough space are working against me.
Clean Title
Complete factory service manual set (costs $200 new)
22RE (just rebuilt professionally)
New METAL timing chain guides
New fuel tank
New fuel pump
New starter brushes
New clutch
New flywheel
New brake master cylinder
New brake booster
New brake calipers
New brake pistons
New brake pads
New brake drums
New clutch slave cylinder
New engine mounts
New water pump
New oil pump
New pulleys
New belts
New spark plugs
Has almost new 5th Gen 4Runner rims and tires, tires have tons of life left in them.
And much more, if you want the boxes from new parts, old parts, or receipts I still have most of them.
Should know:
Alternator belt slipped a little so the battery charge light is currently on (I will re-tension the belt when I get time)
Small Power steering leak (Have not looked into it yet)
Leaf springs in rear are sagging/soft
Shocks need to be replaced
Some of the bushings and joints could use replacement from sitting so long
Seats are in rough shape
Head liner in shell is falling off
A few dashboard cracks
Missing a few body trim items like across the top of the windshield. (Rust present)
No radio or door speakers. Previous owner did this and left some ugly holes.
Paint job could use a buff and polish, the shop that rebuilt the engine said the paint is actually in good shape..
Rust around rear wheel wells. (Probably the worst thing on this list)
I have a front push bar style bumper but no hardware to mount it back on. Comes with it.
It will certainly take some more work to get it back into great shape but mechanically it's ready to go. I am confident that with even just replacing the shocks it would be a solid rig for years to come. Even as is it would make for a fun crawler, hunting rig, or project truck. Selling because I am working on a show car that’s taking up all the garage space and I just don’t have room or the time to keep pushing it along.
