2004 Chevy Silverado 2500HD – 6.0L Gas Clean Title
Solid, reliable 3/4-ton truck that runs great and has never let me down. The 6.0L gas engine is one of GM’s best, simple, durable, and known for reliability. This has been a dependable truck for Home Depot runs and occasional trips towing our side-by-side, bikes, or rafting trailer.
Pros / Recent Work
-Rebuilt transfer case with less than 10,000 miles. The original failed due to a common GM issue from this era where a small hole develops and slowly leaks fluid until failure. The rebuilt unit has addressed that problem.
-Transfer case actuator replaced, another common wear item on these trucks. Works perfectly.
Aftermarket Android head unit installed with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto for music and navigation.
-Backup camera installed with the stereo upgrade (currently not working, see cons).
-6.0L V8 gas engine – known for reliability and easy maintenance.
-Fiberglass tonneau cover, keeps tools and gear dry and protected.
-Seats 6 people thanks to the front bench seat configuration, great when you need the extra passenger capacity.
-Trailer brake controller installed (relatively new).
Cons / Things to Know
-ABS light comes and goes. Hasn’t affected driving, so I haven’t addressed it.
-Emergency brake doesn’t hold well, and the brake light sometimes stays on briefly after releasing it.
-Backup camera needs replacement. Cameras are inexpensive ($30–$60) and usually take about an hour to install. I may replace it if I get time before the truck sells.
-Trailer brake controller currently not functioning. Likely a ground wire issue, but I haven’t looked into it yet.
-Tires have decent tread but are older and starting to show some sidewall cracking. They should be replaced soon.
-Interior shows normal wear for a truck of this age, mostly on the driver’s seat (see photos).
-Typical Chevy paint chipping in some areas.
-Oil pressure sending unit is going out, so the gauge sometimes reads inaccurately. When it reads correctly, pressure is in the normal range.
Other Info
-Clean title in hand
-No trades
-Not interested in vehicle report scams, codes, or similar requests common on KSL.
Overall, this is a dependable heavy-duty truck with a strong drivetrain and plenty of life left in it.
