I bought this car for my 16 year old. It runs great in spite of the fact that he tried to “shoot the gap” and didn’t quite make it. I’ve probably put 1,000 miles on it since then with no issues.
Here’s the reason I bought it:
-Fairly low mileage
-Upgraded touch screen audio
-Sub in trunk (remember I bought this for the 16 year old)
-4 wheel low (we live in the mountains)
-Solid body with little to no rust
-Cheap enough that I didn’t feel like I would lose my shirt if he wrecked it (he did)
What’s wrong with it?
-needs new front bumper, grill, headlight, passenger front quarter panel, passenger front wheel.
-needs suspension work (rough before the accident, worse after)
-drivers rear door handle broken
-drivers interior door handle broken (still works, just cracked)
-check engine light and tire pressure lights on
The reality is that you could probably drive this Jeep for another 10 years just the way it is. I would honestly just let my kid continue driving it as is, but I have one too many cars and the busted up one is the one my wife told me to turn loose of. Fix the suspension and turn it into an off-road monster. Fix the cosmetic and make it pretty. Leave it all and have a beater to get around town in. It will probably out live my dog.
