We’re saying goodbye to our 2000 F-250. It’s been a great truck for us, but I’m ready to move away from diesel maintenance and into something gas.
The good:
7.3L Powerstroke
6-speed manual transmission
4.10 gears
B&W gooseneck hitch
S&B intake
BD exhaust brake with onboard compressor
Airbags with compressor
4" turbo-back exhaust
TS chip
Gauges for exhaust back pressure, boost, and EGT
Tires have plenty of tread
Recent maintenance / upgrades:
HPOP & LPOP replaced at 208k miles
Under-hood wiring harness replaced with OEM Ford (last March)
New glow plug harness
New front ball joints
New drivelines with carrier bearing
Up-pipes replaced
New rear pinion seal
Stack of receipts included
The not-so-good:
Has long crank times when hot (likely injector O-rings)
Electronic 4WD not working, but 4WD does work when manually shifting the transfer case
This truck has treated us well and still has plenty of life left—just looking for something simpler for my needs.
