I'm open to offers if I have this priced to high. Let me know what you think it's worth!
I’m selling my 1995 Toyota 4Runner. It starts and runs reliably, but it recently failed emissions. While it’s a great driver, I’ve priced it to reflect the mechanical work needed. Still runs well, come take it for a test drive! This is the perfect truck for an enthusiast looking for a solid platform to perform the popular 3.4L (5VZ-FE) swap.
The Value (Recent Investments):
The asking price is well-supported by the thousands recently spent on the "bones" of the truck:
Off-Road Gear:Freshtireswith excellent tread and a mountedwinch.
Recent Exhaust:Newcatalytic converterinstalled just 8 months ago.
Interior:Upgradedstereo systemand overall good cabin condition.
**Maintenance:**Recently replaced spark plugs (all testing well).
The Mechanical "Real Talk":
I recently had a full professional diagnostic done to be 100% transparent. Here is the status:
**Compression:**Cylinder 6 is low (90 psi). It runs well but feels underpowered.
**Leaks:**There are leaks at the exhaust manifold and collector gaskets (one missing bolt), plus a suspected intake manifold vacuum leak.
**Emissions:**It did not pass the IM test due to high HC readings, likely caused by the leaks slowing down the O2 sensor signal.
**Small Fixes:**Both washer pumps are "rotten" and need replacement.
The Verdict:
The body, tires, and recovery gear make this truck well worth the investment. You can fix the gaskets and keep driving the 3.0L, but most owners at this stage choose to upgrade to the 3.4L. The heavy lifting on the exterior and accessories is already done for you.
