2009 F-150 4x4 — The Ultimate Winter Commuter & Trail Rig
Price: $7,450 (OBO)
Mileage: 225,000
Engine: 5.4L 3V Triton V8
The Build Strategy:
I’ve daily driven this truck for years and focused every upgrade on mechanical reliability and unbeatable traction. If you're looking for an amazing winter commuter or off road rig for the family, this is it. I’ve addressed the common F-150 "weak points" so you can drive with total confidence.
Remote start!
Winter & Off-Road Performance (The "No-Stuck" Drivetrain):
• Rear End: Detroit Truetrac Differential (3.55 gears). Pure gear-driven traction—no clutches to wear out. It is incredible on icy roads.
• Front End: IWE Eliminators (Vacuum Hub Delete). Permanent, mechanical 4WD engagement. No vacuum lines to freeze or leak in the winter.
• Axles: New HD Extreme Weather CV axles—built specifically to handle sub-zero temps and harsh conditions.
• Steering Refresh: Just installed New HD Ball Joints, Sway Bar Bushings, and Sway Bar Links. The front end is tight.
Suspension & Chassis:
• Lift/Shocks: Bilstein 5100s with Eibach 2” lift coils (Front) and a 1.5” rear lift. High ground clearance for deep snow.
• Control: Aftermarket Upper Control Arms (UCAs) for better geometry and strength.
• Fuel Range: Rare 32-Gallon Large Capacity Tank—fewer stops in the cold.
Tech & Visibility:
• Lighting: High-vis Amber fog lights (essential for white-out snow) 20” Multi-colored LED light bar.
• Interior: Aftermarket Bluetooth Head Unit (Hands-free calling and music).
• Wheels: 17” Flow-formed lightweight off-road wheels.
The Honest Truth & Tire Offer:
• Tires: The current tires are worn. For an additional $1,300, I will install a brand-new set of 33” Nitto or Falken All-Terrain tires and new TPMS sensors. You pick the brand, and I’ll have it ready for the first snowfall so you don’t have to deal with a tire shop.
• The Body: Typical F-150 rust on the rockers and cab corners. Mechanically a tank, but the body shows its age. I’m only selling to move into a smaller commuter.
