Early 1973 Spitfires had a 1,296cc engines with 61 horsepower. This late model 1973 Spitfire 1500 (VIN FM1457U) came equipped with the larger 1,493cc engine producing 75 horsepower. The car came from Massachusetts to Utah in September of 2025 and has had many new components fitted since that time. The car has new wiring throughout, new fuse box, new battery, new tires and alignment, new powder coated rims, new interior finishes, new burl walnut dash, new instruments including volt meter, oil pressure, engine temperature, fuel level, clock, tachometer, speedometer, new wood steering wheel, new convertible top, new tonneau cover, new brakes, new master brake cylinder, new clutch cylinder, new alternator, new fuel pump, new stainless steel headers and exhaust system, full car cover, and a 4 speed manual transmission. Starts instantly and runs beautifully. A little cold blooded to start with manual choke as is classic of Spitfires, but after a minute or so idles smoothly with choke off. As can be seen in the photos the two-car garage is a little full of three cars. Since I am in my 81st year, the choice of the comfort of the Jaguar or the fun of the Triumph goes to the Jaguar. For a Spitfire in this condition the price is right. A quick browse on the internet will allow you to compare photos and will show prices from the low $6,000 range to $ 24,000 with none as nice as this one at only $16,250 OBO. The odometer shows 24,000 miles, but that can’t be accurate…can it?
