1999 Saab 9-3 2.0t
150k miles
Bought it September last year, haven’t really drives it since.
Does not pass emissions and I’m not sure why. It is giving codes for the front o2 sensor but I replaced that and the code is still there.
Misfires when warm rarely and idk why I replaced the spark plugs and the spark plug for cylinder 3 gets dirty quickly
I replaced the direct ignition cassette and no change. I have the new one in the trunk and it runs the same with one in Lmao
Previous owner put in a new clutch right before I bought it
It’s a fun car I just don’t like it like I thought I would and I never drive it. Interior is in pretty good condition, drivers seat is torn by the seatbelt and I took the climate control unit out but broke it but it’s missing some pieces that you can find on esaabparts.com for pretty cheap. The climate control unit is hard to find for under $200 on eBay but as of now you can fiddle with the stuff to make it work, sort of. It has a sunroof which is sweet but I broke part of the plastic light cover because the plastic is old and shitty I guess. The floor mat seems to enjoy sliding up so I tried to Velcro it to the floor but it kinda just folds now. The exterior is in great condition besides a few paint chips on the front. It’s pretty awesome looking and you sure as shit look like a badass driving it. I love it but I just prefer Volvos and my Toyota pickup. I would be interested in trades for 90s Volvos or 70s ford f series, but if you have something else shoot me a message and I’ll see. 1999 is actually the same year as my current Toyota pickup and as a Volvo I bought in 2024. It was a 1999 gray v70r with a coolant leak bad enough that it caught on fire on the way home. I was actually heading up to Idaho that day so I had to call my uncle and let him know I had to leave the next day. I had my mom’s boyfriend grab a Thule roof box that the seller left on the car. I just sold that box so I made a bit of the money back because we tried to contact the seller but he disappeared so I never got the money back back from him even though it was kind of my fault the the car caught on fire.

One of the tail lights is out as well but it’s one of the trunk ones that doesn’t go on with the headlights I don’t think. It’s got these awesome little headlight wipers which would be great if we still got cold winters here but unless we start seeing -20 degree weather you’ll probably never use them. But they sure are classy and almost make you wish you were in Sweden. I drove it up to beaver once to bring it to its Swedish roots but I ended up spraining my wrist which sure made it a tricky drive home. I thankfully made it back without hurting anyone but it sure would have been easier if I could float this transmission. It’s a good thing it’s got a new clutch and the synchros work well because floating is near impossible or maybe I just don’t have the intelligence or patience to figure it out. The transmission is really smooth to shift but to take the key out of the ignition, which is located on the console near the shifter, you do have to leave it in reverse which is neat and all but gets annoying quick. It came with a key fob but I can’t figure out why it isn’t working and the key works fine to open everything. It does have electronic locks but the locking switch is in the center console as well, along with the power window controls. It’s got a shitty radio that will play your Bluetooth music but it’s got some weird issues but it does get the job done. The Saab information display is missing pixels but it could be a pretty easy fix. The great thing is whatever the hell it could show on there is probably not necessary. Not necessary like my twice daily bowl of ice cream. I used to do fun flavors like mint or cookies and cream but lately I’ve just been eating vanilla or chocolate.
