Ever dream of being a Subaru mechanic?
Love the challenge of troubleshooting persistent and ever changing faults?
Want to hone your skills in bodywork? Interior work? Electrical?
Want to show off to your buddies how fast you can remove and replace a 2.5L boxer engine every time you think you can finally fix that last oil leak?
Did you buy your favorite kid a brand new car and now need to buy the other kid something?
Have you tried to kick your 35 year old son out of your basement for him to reply “if I had a car I’d leave”?
Well if you’ve answered yes to ANY of these questions then do I have the car for you!
I bought the Impreza for my teenagers to drive, and destroy, and they clearly understood the mission. The clutch was replaced about 10k miles ago when my son shattered it. The engine was replaced about 5k miles ago when he learned the importance of oil. The bumper/hood damage was from when, as he put it “someone must have backed into it parked at Costco”. After 6 years he’s still trying to sell that story, still not buying it.
Does it have body damage? Yes
Worn interior? Yes
A cracked windshield? Yes
Leak oil? Obviously
Pass smog? Who knows
Run? Yes
Drive? Yes
It intermittently throws several codes (both O2 sensors, temperature sensor, cam position sensors, park/neutral switch, etc). All sensors have been tested good or replaced, yet the faults persist. I have to imagine at this point it’s ECU, wiring harness or a ground issue. I don’t have a need for this car or any desire to continue troubleshooting it. So if you’re car savvy and think you can fix it or just want to strip the powertrain for something else, make an offer.
