We've loved this car, and hate to sell it! Bought it in 2019, and is still driven almost daily. However it has a number of issues that should be addressed, if you plan to drive it regularly. (see details below). We like it so much, I picked up a nice, lower mileage 2009, which I planned to repair to replace this one. Finally realized I don't have time to work on either one, so am listing for sale.

Good:

• Replaced all valve stem seals at 157,000 miles. Engine runs fantastic! Also replaced valve cover gaskets, and alternator bracket/oil thermostat gasket. These are common issues for the BMW n62 engine.
• New water pump and alternator at 201,000 miles.
• Cosmetic condition isn't too bad for a 200K mile BMW :) The pics tell the story.
• Tires have a little life left. Currently 26,000 miles on them.

Bad:

• Coolant leak! This is another common issue for the n62 engine. I haven't had a chance to pinpoint the source. It's leaks less when the heat is off, so I think it's not the notorious coolant transfer pipe, but cannot confirm. We still drive it, but frequently add coolant. You'll want to fix this to daily drive it.
• Front suspension. The front struts are pretty clunky/noisy.
• Weak catalytic converters, but still passed emissions test on 4/10/2026. The emissions certificate is included if you like. I believe it's valid until 6/10.
• Intermittent minor power steering leak.
• Many other minor nitpicks that I'm probably overlooking. Call or text with questions.

I'm hopeful someone out there will appreciate this car enough to keep it on the road. It's a really fun drive! But the reality is it may be better suited as a parts car. As mentioned, I also have 2009 X5 4.8i, which will likely be listed for sale in coming days/weeks. It needs even more work than this one, but has lower miles, and a bit nicer cosmetic condition.
