Selling my 2000 Lexus LX470 — the luxury sibling of the legendary 100-series Toyota Land Cruiser, with the bulletproof 4.7L 2UZ-FE V8, full-time 4WD with locking center diff, and high-low transfer case. 160,000 miles, second owner.
Provenance: This truck has spent its entire life in the Las Vegas / Mesquite area. The Alaska plates throw people off, so let me clear it up upfront: the previous owners were snowbirds with a second home in Mesquite, and the truck stayed there full-time as their local vehicle. It was registered in Alaska because that’s where their business entity is based. So despite the plates, this is a true desert truck — never made the trip north, never saw road salt, never saw a real winter. That’s the history that matters for a 25-year-old Toyota-platform SUV.
Mechanical highlights:
Cosmetic and condition:
The honest part:
Timing belt has not been replaced at 160k. The 2UZ-FE is a non-interference engine, so if the belt fails the engine isn’t destroyed — you’re just stranded. Toyota’s recommended interval is 90k, so it’s overdue. Budget about $1,200 at a shop (timing belt water pump tensioner is the smart combo) or significantly less if you DIY. The truck is priced with this maintenance baked in.
Small spot of surface rust at the upper driver-side corner of the windshield — looks like an unaddressed stone chip from years back. Cosmetic, photographed honestly. Consistent with the desert history (UV and rock chips, not road salt).
Power antenna is stuck at about 6 inches — doesn’t fully extend or retract. Common LX470 issue, replacement antenna assemblies are readily available online for under $100.
Performance chip is a Thorton Chip Tuning plug-and-play unit. Runs clean, no codes. Easy to remove if you want it gone.
Driver seat shows the typical LX470 outer-bolster leather cracking — no rips, but some surface flaking visible up close.
Light clearcoat wear where the sunroof seal meets the roof — cosmetic, common on these.
Couple of light scuffs on the driver-side rear quarter, photographed honestly.
I have verbal service history from the previous owner but no paper trail of receipts, which I’m being upfront about.
