This is a mechanically excellent 2004 GX 470 with a "trail-ready" exterior. This truck has been all over the Mountain West and has the scratches to prove it, but it remains ready for long-distance travel or challenging terrain. If you're shopping for a GX, you already know the capability and longevity of this platform.
The Good:
Mechanically Sound: Extensive overhaul completed last fall. It runs and drives great.
Modern Tech: Upgraded Phoenix Automotive "Tesla Style" head unit with Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Solid Foundation: Solid frame with no rust issues; passes emissions with no problems.
Maintenance History: I have kept a detailed log of every part and service during my 6 years of ownership.
Efficiency: Surprisingly efficient for a V8—I’ve seen 21-23 MPG on the highway, though expect 17-18 MPG in mixed driving.
The Bad:
Cosmetics: The paint is scratched and faded (notably on the roof), and the fenders are mismatched. It has been a dedicated adventure vehicle for 6 years and looks the part.
Interior Wear: The driver's seat leather (replaced 5 years ago) is starting to show some typical wear and cracking again.
Why I'm Selling:
I recently purchased a new SUV and need to clear up driveway space. I completed a major mechanical overhaul last fall with the intent of keeping it for several more years, but plans changed. My loss is your gain on a very reliable rig.
Last 1 Year Maintenance:
Tires: Installed a fresh set of Hankook Dynapro tires and TPMS sensors
Suspension Overhaul: Completed a front-end overhaul including upper and lower control arms, outer tie rod ends, sway bar links and bushings.
Rear Shocks: Installed new Bilstein 5100 rear shocks.
Alignment: Performed a full alignment following the suspension work.
Oil: Always kept fresh
Last 5 Years:
Brakes: New Brembo rotors installed at 133k miles
Radiator: New radiator and OE Toyota coolant at 130k miles
Valve Covers: New gaskets at 128k miles
Axle: New driver side CV Axle at 157k miles
Timing Belt: Carfax shows timing belt replacement at 119k miles
Air Suspension: Both air bags replaced
Transfer Case Actuator: New gaskets installed
Seats: Replaced front seat leather with new.
