Parts/Project car: good engine & interior, rusted frame.
The good:
It drives reliably
The engine is in great shape and I've taken it in for regular maintenance
The interior is still in great shape for a car of this age imo
Everything still works, AC, radio, windows, wipers, heat, electronic lock & unlock, two keys with fobs
The bad/broken:
The body is rusted out to the point where it's not really safe to drive since the suspension might fall at an any moment, and changing the brakes likely will cause a lot of things to break (multiple mechanics have confirmed this for me)
I believe there is a vacuum leak somewhere. When I drive it on a cold day without letting it warm up, I get a check engine "System to too lean". I've had both fuel/air ratio sensors replaced, and this did not fix the problem, so from what I've heard, the culprit is probably vacuum leak. A bit of a pain to find, but cheap to fix if you do it yourself, and not a structural engine issue.
It has started to occasionally grind going into 3rd gear, esp when it's cold. So I wouldn't buy this if you're looking for a good transmission.
A branch fell on the windshield and it's got a lot of spiderweb cracks
Weather seals in back doors have started to come loose, but no leaks that I've noticed.
My goal for this is to see my beloved first car go to someone who will use it on a personal project. i.e. maybe take the engine and interior to keep another old corolla alive that has mechanical troubles. Shoot me a message about what you have in mind and hopefully you're the right one to take "George" home.
Note: I'll only be responding to messages that share some details about what type of project you need it for. The more you can share, the more likely I will be to feel good about letting George go.
