1982 Lincoln Continental Special Edition. The first year for the new downsized Lincoln and what a beauty! An absolute marvel for the day. Nicely loaded with all the usuals you would expect from a Lincoln -- power windows, seats, cruise control, power mirrors -- and all fully functional! Additionally, this car has the premium sound system, digital dash board, digital trip computer, AM FM Digital radio (no cassette), auto headlamps, interval wipers, vent windows and cigarette lighters galore! 5.0 liter V8 and Overdrive Automatic Transmission move the car down the road quite well. This is a drive anywhere vehicle! The carriage roof application was NOT a factory option at the time. Dealer installed for a nice upcharge. It is in very good condition with only minor fraying at the edges. NO signs of rust underneath! I purchased the car last August in Wisconsin and drove it back to Utah. The AC froze up around Chicago. That has been replaced and blows cold today! Newer tires, new battery, full new AC system including compressor and conversion to 134.
Unlike most Continentals of the 80s, the 1982 did NOT have the air ride suspension. It's actually one of the reasons I purchased the car wanting to avoid the hassles of maintaining that system. The car will need a carb adjustment/work -- it runs rich. There is a vacuum leak which I believe is associated with the brake booster. Hit me up with questions! Thanks!
