MECHANIC’S SPECIAL - this is a project car. It runs, but I do not recommend driving it right now - see below for more information.
This 2010 VW Touareg TDI has been very well maintained and was started to be built out for overlanding. More than $9k in high-end suspension, wheels/tires, rock sliders and bull bar - all professionally installed in 2025.
Unfortunately I believe a timing chain tensioner has failed, and the timing chain has skipped a tooth. It still runs (see video), but is very far down on power and I would not drive it until fixed to reduce the risk of catastrophic damage. If you buy it, I highly recommend trailering it versus driving it.
I am the third owner of this beast of a vehicle, with a large binder of receipts showing regular maintenance, repairs and upgrades done under the VW “dieselgate” settlement (IYKYK). No accidents, excellent interior for a 16 year old vehicle, audio upgrades, full VW service manuals and much more.
This was my daily driver and incredibly reliable during my ownership, but I have to move on due to the new engine issues. I parked it as soon as it started misbehaving. Honestly, trying to get back a small portion of the investments I’ve made in it - it’s ready for a mechanic or tinkerer who can get this incredible machine back on the road.
