Perfect car for a high school parking lot! I'm going to miss Bernadette, but she deserves a better home. She isn't getting enough attention lately and it's time for someone else to learn how to drive a manual transmission. Here are some of the highlights and lowlights, plus a potential deal that's worth thinking about.
Highlights:
It's a Honda and will run forever
It's a Honda and will run forever
Clutch was replaced by Larry H Miller Honda in 2024 ($3,300 value)
Tires installed by Costco in 2025. Have less than 1,000 miles on them ($800 value)
Alternator replaced by Auto Enhance in January 2026 (Jimmy Johns for the boys)
Single family ownership. Purchased brand new in 2001 by mother. Passed down to son when he moved away for college.
Clean title in hand
Driven on average of 50 miles/week for the past 7 years.
Lowlights:
Windows have an electrical short so they don't operate. Window motors were replaced in 2022. Worked for a few days, then stopped again. Only diagnosis left is an electrical short and I'm not savvy enough to find it.
AC works best if temps are less than 70 degrees. It's a bit tempermental. Sometimes it works. Sometimes it works for 10 minutes in a 25 minute drive (although it worked all day today - 7/1/2026).
Small oil leak. Can't locate the origin, but it's nothing that a top off at Jiffy Lube can't solve.
Potential Deal:
I would love my kids to learn how to drive a manual transmission vehicle, but I'm still 6 years away from that reality. I can't have Bernadette in my garage for 6 years. Maybe she can bless someone else's high schooler and give them the chance to learn how to drive a manual for 5-6 years, then depending on the condition, I buy it back for a fair price when my oldest needs a vehicle. You'd just be responsible for any necessary maintenance and repair while it's in your possession.
Any takers?
