Great car that’s been maintained well with an oil change every 5,000 miles. Moving out of state and aren’t taking the car with us, otherwise we would keep the car. There are a few issues because it is 19 years old, and that’s why I’ve knocked the price down so much. Meet up in Ogden or Logan!
PROS:
-Less than 100,000 miles
-Drives great, 2.5 L engine makes this the most reliable kind of Jetta (and fun to drive)
-Apple/android radio installed
-Cruise control
-Leather seats and nice interior
-No engine/maintenance lights on
-Market value if there were no issues would be around $5000
CONS:
-The most noticeable issue is a thumping sound in the dashboard that happens when you start the car or put it in reverse, which is annoying. This started in March of this year. I got it checked out at Corey’s Automotive in Ogden and they said it won’t affect safety or function, but it’s a pesky one to fix because they’d have to access it by going through the dashboard. Again, not an ideal issue but it doesn’t affect driving and it only happens the first 20-30 seconds of a drive.
-The other main one is an oil leak in the housing. I’ve been quoted by multiple mechanics around $3k to fix this, so I just fill it up with oil every 2-4 weeks instead of sinking all that money into an issue that doesn’t affect the way the car drives.
-Driver’s side door does not lock
-Key fob is finicky
-Windshield fluid does not spray. This should be a fairly straightforward fix though
