2022 Polestar 2 Long Range Dual Motor AWD — Plus Package — 408 HP — Clean CARFAX

Reducing my listing well below market value to compensate the buyer for a software patch that can be completed at an authorized Polestar service point (closest to Salt Lake City, UT is Denver, CO). I attempted to find a local shop to complete this without success.

The vehicle is fully drivable, safe, and currently used daily for my 80 mile round trip work commute.

If you’re a mechanic, have worked on new Volvo EVs, and have experience with VIDA, you could probably complete the software patch on your own.

Technical Journal 36404.4.0 describes the issue and software patch necessary. Basically, a software glitch with the OBC can occasionally cause the vehicle to think a charging cable is still connected when trying to shift from Park to Drive/Reverse. Short term solution is to lock the vehicle and walk away from it for 10-15 minutes so it goes in sleep mode. An easier solution I’ve found is to exit the vehicle, lock it with the Polestar phone app, unlock it with the Polestar phone app, and then try again.

Estimated software patch will cost $200-$300 (mostly labor). I’ve reduced my listing by $3,000 to compensate buyer for inconvenience. I simply don’t have the equipment to do this on my own, or the time to drive to Denver to complete the patch at a Polestar service point.
