Meet Bonnie, our 1968 F-250 highboy Ranger. If you’re looking for a perfectly restored, flawless show truck, Bonnie probably isn’t your girl. But if you’re looking for an honest old Highboy with loads of character that you can actually get in, drive, and enjoy, the keep reading.
Bonnie is still sporting her original Sky View Blue paint and more than five decades of absolutely incredible natural patina. This is the kind of finish people spend thousands trying to recreate, and it never quite looks as good as the real thing.
She has bumps. She has bruises. She has rust. She’s 58 years old, and she wears every bit of her history proudly. But underneath all that character is a really great old Ford that we built specifically for someone who wants a driver, not something they’re afraid to take out of the garage.
Under the hood is her original 360 V8, backed by the original 4-speed manual transmission and factory 4x4 drivetrain. The odometer currently shows just over 70,000 miles.
We didn’t build Bonnie to erase her past. We built her to preserve what makes her cool while getting her back out on the road where she belongs. She had previously been off of the road since about 1988.
There’s just something about an original-paint Highboy that a restored truck can’t duplicate—the faded Sky View Blue, the worn-through spots, the dents, scratches and scars all tell a story. Park her next to a freshly painted truck and we already know which one we’re walking over to look at first.
