Great off roading/everyday car- very versatile. I am having to switch to a commuter car living in the city now, but am sad to part with the Xterra. As is, it runs and drives with no issues, has great A/C and gets HOT in the winter. I drive it 30 miles 3-5 times a week. A few things that have come with age: The VDC sensor is bad, the 4WD still works great as well as the diff locks. WILL NOT PASS EMISSIONS, cats and O2 sensor are non existent. I can also show you the diagnostic codes, they are related to the 02 sensor and the faulty ABS and VDC sensors. I am in the process of putting two new wheels studs that broke off. I am also working on getting the inside detailed. I have replaced the steering rack, put in a new alternator, there are new brake pads in the front and back, and the battery still has some life in it. The previous owner took good care of the vehicle and replaced the radiator fan before I bought it. It will need new tires soon, and it occasionally needs coolant topped off. All things considered the transmission and 4.0L V6 engine (has a timing chain) will last well up to 300,000 with proper maintenance.
