Yes, you are correct. Up for grabs is in fact a fabled Tercel Wagon. And not just any Tercel Wagon, but a 4WD, SR5, 6 speed Tercel Wagon. Attracting the gender of your preference is a tough game, but with one of these, 60% of the time it works every time. No one understands how this works, but the science checks out.
I've had this little weapon for roughly 2 years. I daily drive it, and have ripped it up the canyons to the ski resorts a handful of times. Not to mention the drives to Idaho on sketchy roads in the winter time. To these ends, it has performed marvelously.
Includes a set of summer tires on the steezy white steelies, and a set of snow tires on the factory alloys.
I inherited a handful of neglected issues, to which I have opened the coffers and addressed promptly. This includes:
both rear axle seals and wheel bearings
clutch, flywheel resurface, pressure plate, throwout bearing, pilot bearing, clutch cable
driver front CV axle
fuel pump, spark plugs/wires
timing belt/water pump
crank and cam seals
horribly mediocre stereo system remedied with a functional Toyota tape player, new speakers on every corner, aux cord and amp/sub
water intrusion around factory roof rack sealed up
replaced driver and passenger front door seals. not a bit of wind noise going down the road
horn pin
dome light
Taking care of these issues has made this a surprisingly reliable and practical little daily driver. I average 25 unless I stretch out a trip on the interstate, then she'll do 30 mpg. This is the second slowest car I've ever owned, but it hums along at 65-70 without a complaint.
Things I have not addressed, that the next owner will have the great honor of cutting their teeth in the Tercel world to repair:
all 4 struts are shot. replacements are readily available on Rock Auto
passenger front CV axle now needs to be replaced after fixing the driver side. also available on Rock Auto.
driver front window is inop. hilariously common. I've replaced the regulator once with a less thrashed one, and it bought me a year. All other windows work flawlessly.
driver front seat cushion torn. foam is fine. I had a wood bead seat cover over it and it really tied the whole car together.
a/c inop. system is all there and sealed, and may fire up with a recharge. just hasn't been something I've adressed.
Plenty of surface rust on the body, but not a single spot of rot, or structural issue. It's honestly very solid for an almost 40 year old vehicle.
I'll be so sad to see this go, but it's time for this steed to ride off to the sunset with a new cowboy/girl. You will love it, make so many new friends, hear tons of stories of how someone's step dad had one, etc. I'd get in this and drive it to New York tomorrow.
Drop me a line! Ask my anything. Come check it out. Or whatever.
