For Sale: 2018 KIA Soul - Needs a New Heart!
Are you a car enthusiast or a DIY mechanic looking for your next project? Look no further! My mostly trusty 2018 KIA Soul, with a mere 102,852 miles, is in need of a new engine (it comes with the current one). Think of it as a car with a lot of soul but just needs a new heart!
ALL REASONABLE OFFERS WILL BE CONSIDERED
Highlights:
Sleek and stylish exterior from 2018 – still turns heads!
Spacious interior (for a small SUV) – perfect size for a growing family in need of a fuel sipper for road trips, grocery runs, or just chilling. We consistently got 30mpg in town and 35 mpg on the highway.
All the basic bells and whistles – minus the engine, of course.
Why Buy This Car?
It’s a great conversation starter. This KIA has never been stolen! Plus…Remember those cute KIA Soul commercials?
Perfect for those who love a good challenge. Find a 2018 engine with less miles and give it new life!
You can brag about your mechanical skills once it’s up and running and the transplant is complete.
OR… Dismantle it and sell the parts to make a profit.
Open to Trades: Got something interesting to trade? I’m all ears! Very interested in small travel trailers - 1995 or newer - or tell me what you’ve got.
Don’t miss out on this unique opportunity to own a car with character. Contact me today and let’s give this KIA Soul a new lease on life! (Or a final death if you dismantle it for parts)
Additional Info:
Small Accident in 2022 (no airbags) front bumper/grill repaired by insurance. Photos and documents available if desired for serious buyers.
Bill of Sale will be provided, Title will be mailed after bank loan is paid off (I’ve been paying on this loan for over a year since the engine quit)
Towing is expensive. I will bring this car to you anywhere in UTAH - just pay for Fuel and a U-Haul dolly trailer. I’d be glad to take a weekend drive.

What went wrong? Excessive oil consumption - right after the 100,000 mile warranty expired.
The last oil change was completed by the KIA dealer in Layton UT on 5/31/2023 @ 99,778 miles on the odometer. The oil change would have included replacing 4 - 4.5 quarts of oil.
On 6/29/2023, A knocking/tick was heard suddenly and the vehicle was no longer driven at approximately 102,800 miles on the odometer.
The vehicle had been driven 3,022 miles during the 28 days between the last oil change and the knocking symptom - consuming 4 to 4.5 quarts of oil over that time. 1.3 - 1.48qt / 1,000 miles - excessive by KIA standards which allow for 1qt per 1,000 miles. KIA declined a ‘goodwill’ repair to replace the engine because I was 2,800 miles out of warranty.
Between 6/2023 and 1/2024 - the car was at a mechanic for diagnosis and then the dealer (I was begging them to cover the engine under warranty since it happened so close to 100K miles…) During this time the engine would start and the car could be moved. The engine last started in April 2024. The last time I tried, the engine would not turn over. My theory is that the goo from the burnt oil may have gummed up in there with all the sitting.
