The Jeep Wrangler continues to be a perennial favorite among car owners thanks to its off-road capabilities, customizable features and universal appeal. Earlier this year, Jeep announced a new addition to the Wrangler family that should put even more smiles on its fans’ faces: the 2022 Jeep Wrangler High Tide trim. Think of it as a souped-up, modified Wrangler that’s making its way straight from the factory — warranty and all — right to the beach.

Key differences from other trims

Built on the Wrangler Unlimited Sport model, the High Tide package has 285 horsepower and a 3.6-liter V6 engine with an eight-speed automatic transmission. Unlike the Wrangler Rubicon, the High Tide doesn’t come with locking differentials or disconnecting sway bars, but it does feature the Xtreme Recon package, which features its own set of perks. These include 35-inch BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A KO2 tires with 17-inch beadlock-capable wheels, a limited-slip differential at the rear, a 1.5-inch suspension lift, custom-tuned shock absorbers and an axle ratio of 4.56:1.

Built for the beach

As the name suggests, High Tide is meant to appeal to beachgoers or anyone else who likes to traverse sandy slopes (looking at you, dune drivers). Along with the big 35-inch tires, the limited edition four-door Wrangler includes LED headlamps and fog lamps to make sand crawling a breeze, no matter the time of day or night. The body-color hardtop is standard and includes the new Sunrider Flip Top to allow for quick and easy access to the sunshine. Add that to heavy-duty steel rock rails, a crack-resistant Gorilla Glass windshield and slush mats for the floor and you’ve got a beach-ready vehicle that’s ready to conquer the maritime elements.

New color option

The 2022 Jeep Wrangler High Tide trim comes in five colors: Hydro Blue, Black, White Sting-Gray and a new, bright yellow hue called High Velocity. The new paint color will soon be an option on the rest of the Wrangler lineup as well.

Limited quantity and a limited edition

Just in case you weren’t already excited for Jeep’s new trim for 2022, the company decided to up the demand for the High Tide by noting that there are “limited quantities available.” In this case, that limit is 5,000 units.

On top of that, Jeep also released a limited edition of the High Tide trim. (It’s a limited edition within a limited edition, which the industry calls “limited edition-ception.”) The first 500 units of the High Tide were dubbed the Jeep Beach and you can pick them out from the rest of the pack thanks to the “Beach” decal on the sides of the hood.

2022 Jeep Wrangler High Tide price

The special edition High Tide package isn’t the most expensive Jeep Wrangler (that title belongs to the Rubicon 392) — but it isn’t the cheapest, either. The starting MSRP for the 2022 Wrangler Unlimited High Tide 4x4 is $50,335. Add on all the options and you’re probably looking at $60,000 or more.

However, it’s worth mentioning that the High Tide already includes several options that the standard Rubicon doesn’t. So, even though the base MSRP for the Rubicon is $46,195, you’ll easily surpass the High Tide’s price if you want to include the same bells and whistles (e.g., bigger tires, a lift kit, a custom top, the Gorilla Glass windshield).

Bottom line: The Jeep Wrangler High Tide is actually a pretty good deal when all is said and done.

Looking for a different Wrangler?

Except for the briny shores of the Great Salt Lake, Utah isn’t particularly famous for its beaches, but what it lacks in seaside landscape it more than makes up for in dusty, desert dunes. The High Tide could definitely prove to be a fun off-road diversion even if its name suggests it’s only meant for coastal cruising. At the very least, it’s sure to be a collector’s item among Jeep enthusiasts. To get behind the wheel of a 2022 Jeep Wrangler High Tide, you can put your order in today.
