FAQs
What does EV stand for?
EV stands for electric vehicle, built with a battery and electric motor versus a gas tank and internal combustion engine.

Electric vehicles will have a battery and cables under the hood.
The EPA considers an EV a zero-emissions vehicle because it produces no tailpipe emissions locally, making them great choices for places with inversion like the Salt Lake area.
What is plug-in hybrid electric?
Plug-in hybrid electric vehicles are a combination of a gas and electric vehicle. PHEVs have a battery, electric motor, gasoline tank and an internal combustion engine, using both battery and gas as power.
For PEHVs, the battery is the primary source of power. Some produce tailpipe emissions only after the electric battery is empty and fuel is being used.
What is a hybrid?
A hybrid electric vehicle is either a full hybrid or mild hybrid, both using gasoline and battery power. A mild HEV uses an additional electric motor only for things like the stereo or giving a small boost during acceleration. A full hybrid battery provides enough power while driving at slower speeds, but uses gasoline at higher speeds. Hybrid car batteries are also recharged through regenerative braking instead of a plug-in setup.
How and where to refuel
You’ll probably want to invest in an at-home charging station, but what about on the road? You can download apps like EV Connect Charging Station, ChargePoint, PlugShare, EVgo or Volta to find a charging station near you. Some EVs have an app specifically from the manufacturer.

Traveling is doable with the rising popularity of electric charging stations.
