Can I fit a Ford F-150 in my garage?
Discussed in this article
Ever wondered why some truck owners park in their driveway, instead of the garage? No, they’re not trying to make you jealous — not always, anyway. More likely, it's because the truck doesn’t quite fit. And if it does squeeze in, there’s not enough room for the driver or passengers to hop out. Whether or not your Ford F-150 will fit in your garage hinges on which model you choose.
F-150 dimensions
Does a Ford F-150 fit in a standard garage? Well, it depends. The truck is available in three cab sizes — regular, SuperCab and SuperCrew — and different bed lengths. An average two-car garage measures 20-feet wide and 20-feet deep. Find Ford trucks
Regular cab
If you have a typical garage or a tad smaller, the regular cab with a standard bed is your most likely option to fit. The single row of seating, paired with the 6.5-foot bed, measures about 209 inches from bumper to bumper, or just over 17 feet for most model years. If you opt for the 8-foot bed, you add another 18.6 inches — increasing the length to 19 feet. It should fit in your garage, but it could be tight.
SuperCab
If you have diminutive passengers — aka young kids — or just need somewhere to toss your candy wrappers, the SuperCab has a small backseat. You’ll also have three bed options: 5.5 foot, 6.5 foot and 8 foot. The smallest SuperCab bed was available in the Ford Raptor prior to 2021. Depending on the model year, this truck measures between 220 to 251 inches.
The SuperCab with a 6.5-foot bed measures slightly more than 19 feet, at almost 232 inches. The longest bed available is 8 feet and extends the truck length to a whopping 250 inches, or just shy of 21 feet. You’ll need a larger garage for this one.
SuperCrew
The SuperCrew has a full-size second row, roomy enough for three adults. It comes with two bed options. The 5.5-foot bed, now available in the Raptor SuperCrew, is about 231 inches — just over 19 feet. See listings
The 6.5-foot SuperCrew increases the overall stretch to 243 inches, or about 20 feet. It’s similar to the SuperCab, but with the benefit of more interior room. Still, it would be too long for an average-size garage.
Will it fit?
In addition to the length, you’ll also need to consider the width of the F-150. With standard mirrors, the truck is about 97 inches across. If you upgrade to trailer-tow side mirrors, you’ll increase the vehicle width another 10 inches. If your space is tight, you can fold in the mirrors when you’re parked. Just don’t forget to pop them back out once you’re out of the garage.
Aside from the standard features, you’ll also need to keep in mind any accessories you plan to add. Installing a lift kit or tow hitch, for example, increases the overall size even more.
Cabin height
Depending on your home, you may need to consider the overall height of the Ford F-150, as well. Height varies slightly by model year.
Regular Cab: 75-77 inches
SuperCab: 75-80 inches
SuperCrew: 75-77 inches
Measure first
The best way to know if an F-150 will fit is to measure your garage. Pull out the measuring tape and verify that it’s wide enough, factoring in wiggle room. You’ll need space to open doors and maneuver around a second car, bikes, scooters, etc. Note that some model years are a few inches longer than others, so check on the specific Ford F-150 dimensions if you suspect it’s going to be a tight fit.
