Utah’s first look: The Lamborghini Temerario debuts with V8 muscle, electric boost and 10,000 rpm of fury

We’re sad to see the Huracán go, but the Temerario might be the brand’s most exciting model yet.

Lamborghini Salt Lake City recently unveiled the next evolution of its non-flagship model in Utah and boy, it is truly impressive. The car was unveiled at Duke Aviation while Alex Harrelson, a doctorate of musical arts student at the University of Utah, delivered a soul-stirring performance of “Nessun Dorma.” The words, “None shall sleep … I will win!” have never been more fitting for a car.

Combining a roaring twin-turbo V8 with state-of-the-art hybrid technology, the Temerario produces 920 horsepower, achieves a 0-62 mph time of just 2.7 seconds, and boasts a top speed exceeding 210 mph — establishing a new benchmark for electrified performance.

As Stephan Winkelmann, chairman and CEO of Lamborghini, said, “The Temerario is a genuine ‘fuoriclasse’: a car in a league of its own, an extraordinary and innovative vehicle both from a technical and stylistic point of view.”

Power to burn — or not

At the heart of the Temerario lies a brand new 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine paired with electric motors. The gas engine alone generates an eye watering 789 horsepower, but when combined with the electric motors, total output surges to a staggering 907 horsepower. This means that 0-62 mph occurs in about 2.7 seconds, and the top speed exceeds 210 mph.

And get this — it’s the first production V8 that can scream all the way to 10,000 rpm. “We wanted to create an incomparable engine,” said Rouven Mohr, Lamborghini’s chief technical officer. “By combining a high revving V8 with three electric motors, we’re delivering a driving experience that redefines the segment.”

Lamborghini made the V8 exceptionally special by using a flat-plane crankshaft, titanium connecting rods and a hot-V twin-turbo layout for sharper response. The hybrid setup is not only about speed; it also delivers instantaneous torque and active torque vectoring. It even allows you to drive purely on electric power for short stretches.

Looks that kill

The Temerario features a completely new design language that feels fresh yet is unmistakably Lamborghini. It’s compact, aggressive and futuristic, showcasing a bold shark-nose front end and a new hexagonal daytime running light signature that will undoubtedly serve as a new brand hallmark.

"The Temerario marks a new milestone in our design language," said Mitja Borkert, Lamborghini's director of design. "It’s pure, futuristic and athletic — a true Lamborghini from every angle."

An exposed engine cover shows off the twin-turbo V8 and electric motor like a piece of jewelry, while a fixed rear spoiler and carefully sculpted aero features crank up the downforce. Thanks to clever aerodynamics, rear downforce is up over 100% compared to the Huracán EVO — and even more with the optional Alleggrita lightweight package.

Interior: Racecar meets tech lounge

Inside, Lamborghini describes the driving experience as feeling like a pilot,  and they truly mean it. The low-slung seating position, slim dashboard and race-inspired steering wheel put the driver front and center. A trio of screens — a 12.3-inch digital cluster, an 8.4-inch center touchscreen and a 9.1-inch passenger display — creates a fully connected experience.

New technology also debuts in the Temerario interior. The Lamborghini Vision Unit features dashcams, real-time telemetry and even the capability to record your track day antics for sharing later on the Gram.

For daily driving, there are the usual Apple CarPlay and Android Auto features, along with an optional Sonus sound system for those maniacs who would prefer to hear something other than the V8 symphony being played behind their heads.

Driving modes for every mood

Whether you’re commuting around town or carving corners up Big Cottonwood Canyon, the Temerario has you covered. There are 13 driving experiences to choose from, thanks to two rotary switches on the steering wheel. Modes such as Citta, Strada, Sport and Corsa let you tailor Temerario’s behavior, from silent EV to full-throttle track-attack insanity. A new Drift Mode also lets you slide with style, with three levels of aid and control.

“With Temerario, we offer an innovative and emotional driving experience at the same time,” said Mohr. “It’s razor-sharp on the track, yet thrilling and fun on the road.”

Endless customization

As with Salt Lake City Motorcars’ other brands, buyers can customize their Temerario to the hilt. Lamborghini’s Ad Personam program offers more than 400 color options, as well as a myriad of lightweight carbon fiber parts and special liveries. Want more edge? Opt for the Alleggerita Pack, which strips 55 pounds from the car while significantly boosting an already impressive amount of downforce.

And don’t worry, thanks to Bridgestone, you’ll be able to enjoy the Temerario year-round. It developed a custom set of Potenza Sport, Potenza Race and Bridgestone LM005 tires to ensure optimal performance throughout the year, whether you’re chasing lap times, hitting the ski slopes or out for a nice Sunday drive.
