Replace your title

To sell your car, you will need proof of ownership. The car title lets the buyer know the vehicle does, in fact, belong to you. Also, if the buyer is trying to secure financing, their lender will need proof of ownership. Indeed, it should be a major red flag if the seller doesn’t have the title, because it could mean the vehicle is stolen property or has outstanding liens.

If it seems lost forever, don’t worry. You can order a Utah car title replacement from the Division of Motor Vehicles. Apply either through the Utah Motor Vehicle Portal, or by filling out the Application for Duplicate Utah Title, Form TC-123. Mail it to:

Division of Motor Vehicles

P.O. Box 30412
