Very difficult to find extremely low-milage Toyota 4WD Deluxe Pick-Up. If you follow the Toyota truck market at all you’ll know trucks like this one don’t come up very often.
So…why am I selling? I bought the truck September of 2024 due to a trip down memory lane and a nostalgic impulse. This truck is very similar to the truck I bought shortly after high school so the moment I got behind the wheel, I was toast:) Now the wifey wants it gone and I just don’t have room. I’d love nothing more than to hold on to the truck because the market for these is only going up and it’s so fun to drive. But regrettably, the Yota’s gotta go.
I updated the stereo system with a new BT deck, door and tweeter speakers, as well as an amp. It sounds awesome in the regular cab set up. And this truck gets attention everywhere. I get more thumbs up and offers to buy this truck than anything I’ve ever owned. People love it!
The truck came out of CA and I’m the second owner as the guy I bought it from was just brokering a deal and never titled. I have a CarFax showing ownership and history. With only 107k miles you’ll be hard pressed to find a lower milage Toyota in this generation. The black paint is original!! Is it mint perfect, of course not, but this thing absolutely shines for 36-year-old paint. There’s no rust on the truck with the exception of small amount of surface rust where the original Toyota bedliner has rubbed. Not significant.
The 3.0 V6 on these Yotas had a recall very early on (1992-93) for a head gasket issue that I believe has been dealt with by the original owner. The truck runs great and I’ve had zero problems in the 2k miles I’ve owned it. The second item of note is the gentlemen I bought the truck from replaced the ignition switch so the original keys were scrapped. Those original keys lock and unlock the doors, so you’ll need to find a locksmith to make a key that fits the doors if you want the truck locked up. I would imagine the entire door lock could be replaced for a reasonable amount. It just never bothered me as I don’t keep anything of value in the truck and it’s been garaged.
Last item to be aware of is these 3.0’s have what is known as a “rod-knock” sensor that is notorious for going out. Same with 4Runners in this era. The truck doesn’t have a rod knock, but the sensor is out so it sets off the check engine light. The truck runs and drives fantastic and there is no knock, but that sensor needs to be replaced to eliminate the CEL. My son and I were planning on repairing (have the part) but we haven’t found time for the job and it’s not a super easy repair given where the Toyota engineers decided to put it. I’ve had a mechanic or two quote $400-$500 on labor but it can be done if you know how to work a wrench.
The Geolander tires are new(er) and have plenty of tread. The interior is clean!! There are no tears in the seat and overall the inside of the truck is in great shape.
This is a truck you can drive or add to your collection and add some upgrades and work on. I prefer stock Yotas like this one so I’ve kept it that way. The price reflects basically breaking even with the stereo upgrade ($1300) and I’m not in a big hurry to sell because I can continue to enjoy it while the wifey knows I’m working on it:) So serious inquiries only please and don’t bother with the low-ball stuff. Sorry…. but I’d prefer this go to the right owner that will take care of the truck and appreciate what it is.
