Following the unveiling of the SLS AMG supercar, Mercedes-AMG presented the GT as its second sports car, conceived entirely in-house. The 2018 Roadster variant features a twin-turbocharged V8 engine that powers the rear wheels. Under the hood of the AMG GT resides an AMG-manufactured M178 twin-turbocharged 4.0L V8 engine that sends up to 469 HP and 465 lb.-ft of torque to the rear wheels via a 7-speed dual-clutch AMG Speedshift automatic transmission. The vehicle sprints from 0-60 MPH in just 3.3 seconds and reaches a top speed of 196 MPH. Noteworthy performance attributes include an AMG Adaptive Sport Suspension, AMG Performance exhaust, a dry-sump lubrication system, a carbon-fiber composite driveshaft, and dynamic engine and transmission mounts.
