Why now is the best time to explore new models

The Mountain America Expo Center will be packed with more than 30 manufacturers. “The Expo is the perfect place to find your thing — or next thing,” said Craig Bickmore, executive director of the New Car Dealers of Utah.

Moody said that now is an especially good time to familiarize yourself with new car models because several manufacturers are offering attractive incentives on popular models. “If you do a little research, there are some awesome incentives going on. There is so much competition, it’s a great time to go research in person, and without pressure, so you can get the best deal at a dealership,” he said.

Although new car prices have risen in the last few years, it doesn’t mean there aren’t a lot of competitive models affordably priced. “Yes it’s true the average new car price is about $48,000,” Moody said. “But there are still plenty of affordable cars available. Nissan, for example, has six models that start under $30,000 brand new.”

Learn more about EVs and hybrid vehicles

The Utah International Auto Expo is also an opportunity to understand current vehicle options, features and technologies. “The show is such a good place to understand gas, hybrid and electric options. For 2025, we estimate that one in every four cars will be electrified, but that doesn’t mean totally electric. Over time there will be more hybrid and plug-in hybrid options. You can check them all out at the Auto Expo,” Moody said.

Retro and exotic displays

In addition to all the new, “regular person” cars, trucks and SUVs on display, there will be an extra large display of modern ultra luxury cars and exotics, thanks to Bentley of Salt Lake City, Lamborghini of Salt Lake City, Aston Martin of Salt Lake City and Lotus of Salt Lake City. There will also be other rare, exotic and collector cars provided by the Automotive Addiction Museum.

Other eye-catching vehicles will also be on display, including those of the Northern Utah Mustang Owners Association, the Utah 4x4 Association, the SCCA Sports Car Club of America and Japanese Domestic Market owners.

Adventure Utah will also be in attendance, showcasing all-terrain vehicles, boats and trailers, and other adventure trailers and vehicles that can be towed by the SUVs and trucks in the show, highlighting Utah’s outdoor lifestyle.

Fun for the whole family

If you’re worried about bringing the entire family, don’t be! There will be lots of fun activities everyone can enjoy. Subaru is bringing back its Subaru Loves Pets program, where attendees can see and interact with the cutest pets around looking for adoption. You may not leave with a car, but you could with a new pet. There will also be remote-controlled car racing and scavenger hunts for kids of all ages.

“Everybody should come, even if they’re not in the market so that when they are in the market, they know! Kids can get in the cars and they love it. It’s a family event,” said Bickmore.
